Back Bone

2ND Dream

"How could you have led them to me Dan?" A girl's voice said it was pitch black. I could feel someone. It feel like we are hugging "We are supposed to be siblings Dan! How could you betray me like this?"

"What? Who are you?" I asked genuinely confused.

"What do you mean who are you?" She asked. I could feel the person shudder in my arms. I feel something moist and warm. There was a jolt along with the sudden amount of liquid pouring onto my hand "OW, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" She screamed. There was a lot of noise and movement from the girl. I think she's crying. Than, just like that, she stopped. There was no movement, no sound, and no crying. She died.

"Good work Dan, Tom will be excited about your success." A man said

I suddenly sat up in my bed. There is sweat dripping down my face. I stand up feeling my balance that i once lost. I walked into the bathroom. When i stepped in, there was blood everywhere. I look in the mirror and i see my self is also covered in blood. Especially my hands. My hands are absolutely soaked in blood to the point i can hear them dripping. I stand there in the face of myself just waiting for salvation from this horrid reality. I heard a sudden tremor at the door. I suddenly wake up. Did i just have a waking dream.

"Daniel, Are you ok!?" I heard Kate ask. I look at her concerned face. I just look around confused. Behind kate is Lilly. She is standing there staring at me with her glossy pale silver eyes. She's almost hiding behind Kate "You were acting really weird."

"Sorry, i had quite the extreme dream." I said standing up feeling kind of light headed. I walked to lilly and got on my knees and pat her on the head. Lilly just stares at me at me as i kneel there with my hand on her head.

"What was your dream about this time?" Lilly asked me with a twinkle in her eyes.

"It was about a cold blooded monster," I said to her. "The monster was absolutely ruthless. He killed someone that i cared very dearly about."

"Who was it. Was it your parents?"

"Lilly!" Kate said sharply. She glanced at me. I have to admit, I was taken aback to what she said. I wasn't mad or anything. This surprised me, any comments that i heard about my parent's death always made me mad.

"I'm sorry!" Lilly said breaking down running to her room.

"Its really ok kate She is a curious kid, you cant punish her for that. Please apologize to her when ever you get the chance, because, she didn't do anything wrong." I say as i start to run after Lilly. I dash across the hallway to where Lilly's door was shut. I slowly open it to see her crying on her bed. Now that i think about it, this is the first time i ever heard or seen her cry. She didn't even cry this much when she was abandoned by her parents. When i was kneeling there in front of the once moving car after i finished screaming due to my throat bleeding.. There was so much movement around the car as the rescue crew was trying to salvage what was left of the wreckage. I was bawling like a little child. Fair enough though, I just lost 2 of the most important people in my life, so of course i was going to be upset."Lilly, Please don't cry. You did nothing to hurt me. I'm more upset that Kate told you my parents died"

"Im sorry, its just i don't know any more about what is going on with me. One moment i feel like i want to cry that my parents left me and the next i want to cry because if you help me find my parents, you and kate won't be able to take care of me." She said wiping her tears and locking her eyes to mine. "Also, Please don't get mad at Miss Katie, please? She didn't tell me. The old man at the park who was feeding the birds told me." I was shocked at this news.

"Did he ever give you a name?" I asked

"No, i don't believe so" She said finally beginning to calm down

"I'll be right back i'll have to go see if i can find this man" I said

I walked down to the park next to the playground i found lilly at. I walked and looked around trying to find this man. I look all over the park to see if i could find anyone. This park wasn't used very much after they found that kids body in the canal. She was stabbed once and bleed out before she was tossed in the river. I only remember the story because she had the same last name as me. I forgot her first name, but i just remember they found a Betton floating facedown in the canal. She was probably a cousin of mine or something. I continue down this trail in the park that leads deeper into the park. I see a little bench where an elderly looking man is sitting and feeding the birds. He looks up and says to me "Ok my. It feels like it has been forever since i have last seen you. After my son and daughter in law died, i haven't seen very much of you," The man looked like he has seen a ghost. "Wow you look just like your father. There is a very uncanny resemblance in you to. I'm glad you took after him. Your mother is beautiful and all ,but your father was a lady killer." the man chuckled.

"Wait do i know you?" I asked him "I mean i feel like i'm supposed to know you"

"Oh well i guess it can't be helped. You were a wee little tott when i last saw you. My name is Travis Betton. I am your grandfather." He said. I almost fell backwards when he hit this on me.

"Oh well, This is some news. Speaking of which, how did you know that LillyAnna was in my care?" I asked the man as i stood firmly on the ground.

"Have you forgotten, After you father made asylum, i joined Asylum's ranks as an assassin." He said as he jumps up at me with a knife. I was thrown off guard due to the old man's speed. "Now do you realise exactly what you have done by taking her into your care. I won't tell Thomas, but you need to be careful. There will be fighting later on. Tom has been looking for her all over the city. Her parents will pay for what they did." He than took the knife off of my neck as he gets up.

"I remember now. You are the Grandmaster of the Assassin Division of Asylum also known as ADA. Why are you going to disobey Tom? Aren't you supposed to be his dog?" I asked him as i jump onto my feet

"Don't get smart with me boy. I'm still your Grandfather and i could just turn around and tell Tom. i decided not to because lately Tom has gotten Power hungry. If he isn't stopped soon, he will make a move on Kimshaw."

"He already has."

"What do you meen?"

"I went to see the old man with his daughter when i saw Al Alah Akbani try to poison him. I do not know if he is ok or not. Is my dad's personal hospital still going?"

"Yes. Why though?"

"If he does survive the poison, i want him to go there to be able to recover smoother"

"You have always been a good kid Daniel. This is another reason i will let you go. You are good to anyone you have met." He said finishing dusting off. "When the time comes, i would like you to finnish Thomas off. I have been here to kill you before, but one night i came here, you were just chilling here staring out to the moon. You were leaning against the guard railing next to the canal. You looked miserable and i wandered, just wandered, that maybe we shouldn't hate you. After all, you just survived a car crash you did not cause. Maybe, we are the bad guys. You are the only Betton to survive that car crash. Anyway... I got to go." He said walking away waving at me.
