Back Bone

I woke up in a white washed tile room on a table. God, my head hurts. my thought was interrupted by a childish sniffle in the other side of the room.

"Lilly is that you?" I asked the child.

"Danny? I'm so scared." she said shuddering

"I'll get you out'a here." I got off the table and and put my feet on the ground, but when i put my weight on the floor i slipped on some thick gel like fluid. "Blood?"

"What was that?" Lilly asked.

"Nothing." I got up off the ground to see her strapped to another table like mine i walked to her table and grabbed her strengths with all my might when i heard the sound of a heavy iron door open beside me.

"Get him back on the table." I heard a man say. as soon as he said that i felt a blow to my head that knocked my out not long enough for me to go into deep REM sleep. I opened my eyes suddenly strapped to the table.

"Oh so you're awake." I hear from the corner of the room. I also hear the sound of a water faucet running. They didn't tether my head down, so i had enough mobility to see the man a tall muscular man facing a sink. "I'm excited to get better acquainted with my nephew." The man turned around to finally reveal his identity. The man was Thomas Betton, My uncle. My name is Daniel Anderson Betton the third inline to the Asylum organization. Tom Betton was second in line. The founder was my father Jay Betton.

"Uncle Tom? Why are you doing this?" I ask yelling at him. He walked over to me with a tray filled with unconventional surgery tools

"Well Danny boy, the way i see it, you are getting in the way of business" He said pulling out what looks to be a fork? "Looks like imma hafta punish ya" With that he slams the fork into my right hand. I tried to scream, But Tom put his hand over my mouth muffling it.

"Danny!" I hear.

"Lilly, I'm fine." I say. If she doesn't stay quiet, He'll focus his attention to her. because this wasn't just an ordinary room. This is a torture chamber.

"You're still hanging in there? the pain still hasn't gotten to you?"

"Did you forget? I was one of your underling..." he cut me off by slamming a fork into my other hand. This time with out the the hand to cover my mouth, i was able to scream.

"STOP HURTING DANIEL!" I can hear lilly scream.

Tom walks over to her putting his hands over her nose and mouth. i see her struggling.

"STOP HURTING LILLY YOU HEARTLESS BASTARD." I yell. He takes a little while to stop. When he does i can feel my heart shatter as i can hear and see her struggling for air.

"Your right. Creeps will pay top dollar at auctions for such a pretty girl like her" Tom says turning back to Lily caressing her cheeks "Don't worry they'll be gentle. You'll be dead before they rape you." She bites him hard and he smacks her.

"Tom i swear to God" He walks back to me with a tool that resembles a wad of metal tooth picks attached to the rotating end of a drill. Im terrified where it's going. He strapped my head to the table to make sure it can't move. He forcefully opens my eye. It was like slow motion watching Tom's eye juicer come close. I let out a loud blood curdling scream as the spikes made contact and scrambling my eye in an instant. At first all i could see is the detail of the iron spike. i soon lost vision in that eye. after it was over, i couldn't feel anything. I was so mentally and physically drained that i couldn't hear Lilly bawling her eyes out. I was just lost in my own mind. like my head's under water and i'm just waiting for somebody to dip their hand in and pull me out. The feeling like if i didn't get help soon, i will drown. so that's exactly what I'll do. Drown... Huh who would thought that, that sounded so wonderful right now. that word echoed around my head for a little while as i was regaining consciousness. i open my one good eye to see that Tom and Lily are gone. I wiggled with what was left of my strength to get free of the strengths. When it felt like i couldn't go on anymore the straps once holding me down broke free. i stumbled up and fell over my own feet due to blood loss. I felt no pain. i stood back up making my way to the first aid kit across the room using the tables and walls to keep balance. I ripped the kit off the wall and forced it open to get bandages and gauze to patch up my hands and eyes. Tom was nice enough to leave me food. so i'll be courteous when i kill him. I eat all of the given food which instantly makes me feel better. I also took an adrenaline shot and ran down the fancy halls of the building trying to make my way to the parking garage. When i got there my bike was the first thing i saw. there was a iron pipe leaning against it. i grabbed it and threw on my riding equipment, But that's when i heard footsteps behind me.

"Whoa there buddy." I hear a familiar voice say. I turn around to see paul standing there. "You aren't going to save her are you?"

"You're supposed to be dead" I say as i gripped the pipe harder. My hand hurts like hell.

"Surprise! Thomas said that if i found the girl he would make me rich." I didn't want to hear him any more i lifted the pipe and ran at him he couldn't grab his gun in time before i slammed the iron pipe onto his knees breaking them both. i take the gun from him and aim it at his chest i shoot him without saying a word i hopped on my bike and rode back to that warehouse. if my memory serves me correctly than that's where they hold the human auctions. when i show up the front is heavily guarded but the back is usually more lax. i ride to the back. I snuck into the event and as i walked pass the "SOLD" section i saw Lilly scrunched over in cage.

"Lilly?" I whispered, but she didn't respond. i took a piece of wirl from the table behind me and slid it into the lock. the lock gave way without a struggle. I stepped into the tiny cage and lifted Lilly's unresponsive little body and put her on my back as i hurried out of the warehouse. right as i got out of the back door i hear a bunch of angry voices behind me. I rushed to my bike and tried to start it to get out of here, but the bike wouldn't kick over. the men were right on my tail as i gave it one last manuel kick and it started up. i ripped out of the area, but the sense of security was gone when i saw two men on sport bikes like mine. we were a few miles from katie's house. at this point i need to lose these guys. i slow down to see if i could kick over their bikes, but the men were armed with batons. we were entwined in a fight as lily was unconscious in front of me. one of the men must have been board because one of them slammed her baton into my front spokes causing me and Lilly to be thrown forward into the street. i rotated so lilly would be on my stomach causing my back to have most of the impact. Luckily enough i didn't hurt any organs. what did hurt was my back and legs. I stayed perfectly still to seem dead. Lily was still unresponsive so she seemed dead.

"Let's get out of here." one of the goons said "There's no way any of them survived that." I heard the purr of their engines disappear off into the distance. i slowly try to get up. i was able to get up. my adrenaline was pumping so hard that i couldn't feel anything again, but the world froze when i saw tom standing in front of me holding his knife to my now exposed arm flesh.

"Here you are again getting in the way of business" he said slicing my arm open. i let out a loud scream. He than stepps back and swings his knife at my face i turn a little and his knife caught my bad eye. Great now my eye is bleeding again. I grabbed the gun i took from paul and i shot tom in his chest. The man fell down like a sack of rice. As i was walking away i hear.

"Heh, you got me good Danny. Thanks for this. The fact of losing has made me realize that the power of my position of Asylum went straight to my head. I failed them, but you still have a chance. Lead them in the right direction. Take this." He said handing me key and a Key card. "This is the key to my estate and that is the key to the founder CEO office at Asylum. Please lead them. Don't do it for me." He died after that. I grabbed lilly and walked the rest of the way to kates house. Which wasn't far from here. I knocked on the door and she opened the door with a smile. Which soon disappeared at the dismal sight of me and lilly.

"Jesus Daniel. What the hell happened to you two" She said, but the adrenaline i once had, had disappeared. I passed out." Dan!!"
