Family Matters

She sat on the couch and i followed her. "Hey lilly, i found a really nice pizza place that makes really delicious pizza, would you like me to order it for you sometime." I ask her.

"Dan, have you found any of my parents?" She asked suddenly. This question caught me so off guard, that i had just frozen in a smile. "I just want to know. I really enjoy spending time with you, but i still have a home that i want to go to" I slowly got up not to fall over from the shock. I slowly walk to the kitchen and sat down at the table. What does she mean just that. We have been through so much in such a short amount of time. I think I like her, I mean, that i want to have her as my child. Even though she is a child, she has one of the most wonderful personalities i have ever seen. I hear something peculiar While in the the kitchen. its my phone. i answer my phone

"Dan!" I hear a distressed woman say franticly. Wait, I know who this is.

"Mrs. Lawrence, is everything ok?" I asked worried.

"Dan they're here, they took Paul and shot him!"

"Is he..."

"He's dead Dan! I'm hiding in the shed at the back of my house! Please get there before they find me!"

"I'm on my way."

I called Kate ask her to watch Lilly. I hopped on my bike and i throttled all the way to where Lexie is hiding.

I got off my bike keeping the gear on to hide how i look. I walked behind the house. I see goons poking around looking for something . i walked back to the front and pulled the gun out of my Jacket and shot a couple rounds into the air. that should distract them. I walked back to the side of the house. YEA, they're gone. i walked to the shed and right as opened the door i felt something heavy and hard hit me on the head. Thanks for the helmet i was only stunned.

"Are you..." I cut Lexy off and motioned her to follow me. she followed me to my bike where i handed her a helmet. She got on the back after she put on the helmet. She has her hands around my chest. I moved them down to my waist so she doesn't fall off. I reamed the throttle and the front wheel got up a little, and we got the hell out of there. we arrived at the little park next to my house where i found Lilly. I took off my helmet

"Are you ok" I say when she grabs my kevlar shaking me.

"One don't ever do that again! Two don't scare me and you won't take a pipe to skull! Three... No. My husband just died and there was nothing i could do."

"Lexy, i'm so sorry. Paul didn't deserve to die. Trust me i know loss."

"What do you know. Losing a goldfish doesn't count. That is easy to say when you haven't lost anyone..." I cut her off with a slap.

"You don't know me." I said with an angered expression. "You don't know the life i lead." I grab her by her turtleneck sweater. "Well listen up and listen well. I have lost my parents and i lost my family. i literally watch as my mom gets her head cut off by a guard rail. I got sprayed with blood when my dad got impaled by a chainlink fence post. I got covered with blood checking on them. i had to listen to my dad scream as he was crushed with a car, and i have no family to turn back to. I almost killed myself in this park a few years ago, but i now have your daughter and she made that life better. The only other person who would take time to spend time with me is my girlfriend Kate. Even she is hesitant to be around me... you can never lose that much in such a short amount of time. Even if you tried."

"I'm sorry I..."

"Shut Up i'm sorry too. I shouldn't have let loose on you. I still hear, feel, and see the chaos"

"I just don't know what to do" She said breaking down into tears.

"Well for one, we need to find you an apartment"

"Okay." She said wiping her tears. we got back on my bike and went to the 4 star motel across the city.

"This place is far away from the center of the city. You should be safe. If you need me, you know how to reach me. As much as they know, You're dead. Here are the keys." I said holding out a set of keys. " Call me if anything happens."

"Will do." She said taking the keys. "Why would you go out of your way, and put yourself in danger, to help someone like me."

"Your daughter gave me something to fight for."I say as i get my riding gear and started my bike. "The way i see it, I wanted to die before i met your daughter and she gave me a reason to live. I want to keep her for longer to continue wanting to live. You are her mother, that means i owe that to you."

"Thank you."

"Did that sufficiently answer your question?

"Yes... hey if you want you can call me your mom."

"I'm not saying it's going to happen, But if i do and you die, I'll be broken for sure." i said getting on my bike. "I'm sorry but no. i can't handle that."

" Ok. I don't hold that against you. Again thank you."

"No problem." I said riding out of there.
