It Was You

Chapter 4

"Eunji ya. I'm asking this out of concern, but are you serious about him?" Kyungsoo asked. His eyebrows furrowed

" I'm attracted to him if you are asking that. And yeah, I am hoping this attraction turns to something more. Are you trying to warn me of him? "

Hearing the reply, Kyungsoo broke into smile

"Good then. Since Chen is serious about you, I just wanted to make sure you are not taking his feelings lightly. Both of you mean a lot to me, so I didn't want to see either of you getting hurt."

Eunji smiled back, relieved that Kyungsoo supported them.

"And you happen to know he is serious about me because?"

"Because I know him too well. He has never acted like this with women before." Kyungsoo shrugged. "And believe me. He will call you within today, because he won't be able to get you out of his head! That itself should prove that he is serious about you"

"Hmm, well let's see about that. Kyungsoo ya, let's meet up later. I have some work to do before I can go home."

"Ok then. Goodnight. I hope your date goes well."

Eunji gave him a light hug and headed to check out the packing up. It was about an hour later that everything was done. It usually took about half an hour but she insisted Namjoo to go home, so she had double load today. It was past midnight, so she was planning on taking a taxi home.

She locked up the hall and left the key at the hotel's reception. It was when she reached the lobby that she noticed him sitting on the sofa, casually reading some magazine

"Jongdae sshi?"

He looked up and smiled

"Eunji ya. You finished your work?"

Eunji nodded

"Were you waiting for me all this time?"

Chen just shrugged

"I heard from Suho hyung that your apartment is in my home's direction. Since it is late, I was here to give you lift."

"You didn't have to do that. I could easily have taken cab."

"Well. Actually that was an excuse. I wanted to. I just wanted to spend some time with you." Eunji was taken aback by the honest answer. Kyungsoo's voice rang in her head. He is serious about you!!

"I'm glad you waited then" Eunji returned the smile as she added "because I was not sure if you were going to call me. So I wanted to take your number too."

Chen immediately took out his cell phone and the card Eunji gave him. He called the number and when the phone vibrated in Eunji's bag, he put it back.

"Problem solved then?" Chen teased "Let's get you home, Eunji ya. You must be really tired."

Eunji smiled; pleased with this new layer of Jongdae she was getting to see. She followed him to his car.

"Do you live with your family?" Eunji asked Chen as he was putting on his seatbelt

"Why? Did you want to come to my place?" Chen asked cheekily intending to make her blush

"Hmm, why not?" Eunji replied, making Chen cough with the unexpected reply

"What? You asked, didn't you?" Eunji said with sass, making Chen taste his own medicine

"Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you but I live with my family. And you are welcome to visit my family home anytime you want."

"I appreciate the offer."

Chen turned on the engine and started to drive

"I have been looking up apartments these days. Living with family is good but I became too independent living abroad, so it's kind of stifling sometimes.."

"Ah, I tend to forget you are a doctor sometimes! I forgot you just recently returned to Korea. And it's understandable though. That wanting to be independent stuff. It's lonely being on your own sometimes.."

"So..you don't live with your family?" Chen fished for information

"Mm. I'm originally from Busan, and my family still live there."

Chen hoped Eunji didn't notice the faint smile on his lips but Eunji did notice it

"But don't get your hopes up. I live with roommates, so don't expect to be invited in anytime soon." Eunji smirked

Chen snorted at the answer

They soon reached the apartment parking.

"Thank you for dropping me, Jongdae sshi. " Eunji took off her seatbelt and was unlocking the door when Chen locked it back

"Not so fast, Eunji ya. "

Eunji seated back, wondering what Jongdae was up to

"Tomorrow. Are you free?"

"I'm free after 1."

"Let's go on a date then." Chen suggested, making Eunji raise her eyebrows

"What? Why torture myself thinking of you when I can meet you instead?" Chen said smoothly, as if he had thought of this dialogue early on

"Aigoo..How can you be so cheesy...So what have you planned for a date? How should I dress? Formal? Casual? Sporty?"

Chen smiled, seeing Eunji agree for a date without a protest

"Casual will do. That's all I wanted to say. I holded you up long enough. Go rest now." Chen unlocked the car door.

"Good night, Jongdae sshi." Eunji got out of the door and went in after giving him a wave

Jongdae shhi huh...We have to rectify that the first thing tomorrow..

Chen thought as he drove back to his home.

It was about 1:30 when he was finally got home, and much later when he fell asleep

When he woke up, it was already 11 am.

Kim Jongdae! How can you be asleep till now!!!

He woke up with a jolt, and the first thing he did was check his phone.

He smiled, seeing that there was a message from Eunji

From:Eunji

I hope you slept well last night!

I forgot to ask you where we were meeting today.

He hadn't thought of meeting place and such, thinking of just picking her up from work.

To:Eunji

I was planning on picking you up from work. Will that be okay?

/send/

He didn't have to wait long for the reply

So she's the type to reply immediately..

From:Eunji

I'm already back from work. I don't want to trouble you, so let's meet somewhere?

To:Eunji

Okay then. Let's meet at Hongdae Station at 1! I'll be waiting for you.

Chen dressed up casually and headed to Hongdae Station on cab.

He reached there right at 1 pm , and looked around to see if Eunji was already there.

She is a girl afterall, I'll wait for few more minutes..

Half an hour had past already and Chen was starting to get nervous.

Have I been stood up? Or...did something happen to her?
