•chapter 15•

I looked up at him finally deciding that it was time for me to speak up. His hazel eyes caught me by surprise. Ethan was already staring back at me, adoration written across his features. "I had a lot of fun with you today E." I said quietly. I mentally slapped myself from having such a small voice. I probably sounded like a fox, and they don't make any noise. Or at least I don't think they do.

"I did too. You know, it's just so crazy and strange how not that long ago we were complete strangers, and now it just feels like, I can talk to you about absolutely anything." Ethan replied back, a tiny smile peeking out from his lips. I let out a small giggle thinking about the first time we ever talked to each other.

"And now it feels weird to think about how life would be like if you weren't nagging at me to face time you every 5 minutes." A small laugh slipped out my mouth at the memory. Ethan smiled down at me, and I looked up, scared to look into his eyes that always cut my words off.

Ethan grabbed my two hands that were laid down on my thighs. His fingers traced the skin of my hand, and I looked down at them before looking back up at him. "I don't want whatever we have going on between us to ever go away Hailey." Ethan hushed quietly, his voice softly calming me down from being so nervous.

"I don't want that to happen either." I agreed, looking deeply into his chestnut colored eyes. His body started to lean in slowly towards me, and suddenly the same thing was happening to me too. Soon enough his breath was hovering over my skin, and I could feel myself craving his lips. I closed my eyes, our lips barley even touching until a phone started to ring.

I pulled away quickly, a little mad at the person who interrupted us. I checked my pockets, and grabbed my phone to see it wasn't mine. Ethan quickly apologized before standing up, and walking a little farther ahead to answer it. I could hear him speaking, but everything sounded very muffled.

Ethan walked back over to me shoving his phone into his pocket. I stood up when he offered his hand to me, and we walked back to the truck, our hands still knotted together. I looked down with a tiny smile thinking about what was about to happen if we weren't interrupted.

"It was just Grayson asking what time I was going back home. Do you want me to drop you off at your house?" Ethan questioned looking at me as we walked on the graveled path that headed over to the car.

"I was thinking I could sleepover at your place. You know ice cream, movies, we can talk about boys. You know the usual." I shrugged kicking a couple rocks around as we walked. The truck was slowly coming into view the more steps we took. "Wait what?" Ethan said a bit too loud. I bit my lip before letting out a small laugh. "I'm just being a goose. But I'm cereal bro, I think I should sleep over. We could watch movies, and I could eat all of your food for you." I suggested with  serious grin as I swung our hands back and forth.

I looked down at the ground. We were by the car, and Ethan stopped in his tracks, also stopping me with him. "Hey," Ethan sighed giving me a tiny smile as he lifted my chin up wit his fingers, "You could stay with Gray and I whenever you want. Alright, Hailey? And I'll even let you eat my food." Ethan replied. A small smile showing that he was being serious.

I nodded in response before we both got into the car with Ethan of course opening and closing the door for me. We drove away from the little garden and over to Ethan and Gray's place. I laid my head against the window closing my eyes at the sound of Ethan humming a song that played on the radio. I smiled to myself before I fell asleep.
