Tom had been staring at the picture that Kaycie posted for an hour. He had been re-reading her caption for just as long.
He couldn't stop his tears as his mind automatically went to thoughts of their relationship ending. He wasn't even sure what it was that just suddenly made everything go wrong.
He hadn't spoken to Kaycie in a week and a half. And the last time he had, everything was fine between them; aside from the 3,000 miles separating them.
Now, he was afraid he was losing her and he had no idea why. Or when it was coming.
He felt numb. He felt weak. He couldn't stand on his own feet anymore, so, he ended up falling back onto the couch in the living room. His heart was heavy in his chest and his mind was killing him.
He managed to peel his eyes from her latest post on Instagram and instead attempted to call her. But she sent him to voicemail instead. He hung up; unable to find his voice to leave her one.
He couldn't find the strength to get back to his feet. He just felt numb. He was already losing her so soon after he finally got her. He didn't know what to do with himself. He didn't know how he would function if he lost her.
She was everything to him.
Like Peter Parker was nothing without his suit, Tom Holland was nothing without Kaycie Bentley.
There was a knock on the front door of his Montreal home but he couldn't find the will to get up and answer it. If it was Harrison or one of the twins, they had their own keys to the house.
Tom wiped tears from his cheeks but more fell faster than he could wipe them away. He could feel his heart racing in his chest and he wanted to be able to save his relationship. But he didn't know what was wrong so he didn't know how to save it.
The knock on the front door came again, a little more persistent than before. Tom grunted and pushed himself to his feet.
They dragged slightly against the tile as he numbly walked toward the front door. "Haz, I swear if you made me get u--" Tom pulled the door open but stiffened when he saw that it was definitely not his best friend at the front door.
