Now is the time for my escape.

~~~~~
I flung myself onto my horse, grabbing their reins and steadying myself before slowly exiting the stalls.
Once I got to the gates I nodded to the solo guard on the ground. "Any reason for leaving at such a time, sir?"
I nodded and gave him some papers that made it seem like I was heading off to a tournament. The guard nodded.
"I see, good luck." He handed them back and let me pass through before closing the gate behind me.
I was now making my way down the trail, careful of spiky brush and bramble.
"Alright now, (H/n). We need to be extra cautious... We are in a dark, covered forest with me being weaponless." When I said it out loud, I got more scared of what could be hiding in the deep forest on each side of me.
I patted (H/n), feeling them shiver. I bent down, whispering reassuring words in their ear.
"We're almost there. I can feel it." I sat straight up, directing them forward.
~~~~~

And now I'm lost. Most definitely. Nothing that I can see looks familiar.

I haven't seen any signs of civilization or life even, beside the wild hare or deer here and there. I sighed and petted (H/n)'s mane, trying to find my way.

The forest by now was starting to gain colour as the sun was rising, just barely peeking through the branches. It was quite inviting and calming, which made me doze off.

I decided to get off of (H/n) and make camp by a large tree. Or in other words, just laying against it, hoping to get sleep.

~~~~~
Howls in the distance are what woke me up. I looked around me, making sure none were close, which thankfully they weren't, and got up. Brushing off my slacks I went to the tree by (H/n) and untied their reins from it.
"Let's continue..." I sighed, flinging myself over and onto the saddle.
"Halt! Who is thou?" (Sorry not sorry) I heard a voice call from in front of me.
I looked down and saw Helmet Head. "What are you doing here?"
He paused before jumping slightly. "I'm sorry I didn't recognize you, M'lord."
I nodded and hopped back off (H/n), petting their side. "It's fine, could you take me to your lord? I'm quite lost.."
He nodded slowly, almost hesitant. Helmet held out his hand which I grabbed to be pulled up and grabbed (H/n)'s reins again, poor horse.
We walked in the direction that I was heading to last night which happened to be a clear path.
"This is the direction?" I questioned Helmet, not believing I was so close to not being lost.
He nodded again which made me raise an eyebrow but I shook it off. The rest of the way back was silent, the suns rays blinding me every so often.
"We're almost there." He broke the silence, looking over his shoulder at me.
I nodded and walked faster so I was at an even pace with him, dragging (H/n) in the process.
I looked around for the cobble wall and saw it peek through some trees. I smiled, knowing I'm almost back. I'm almost back to where people didn't treat me drastically different because I was a prince.
I sighed in content and ran to it, leaving Helmet in the dust. I saw the short guard that let me out the last time I came. "Hello! Tis me again!" I waved at him through the bars of the gate.
He smiled lightly and let me in once Helmet was behind me. I walked through. "Would you mind escorting me to you lord?" He nodded and walked with me to Lord Aphmau's house.
It seemed to have gotten a slight touch up I noticed, as I approached it.
"This will be fine. Thank you, Helmet." He seemed to have given me an eye at the name but I shrugged it off and knocked on the door. It opened up only for my legs to be attacked. There was a little blonde child hitting me with a wooden sword.
"My, my. Attack any harder and you'll chop my legs off." I raised a brow at the child as he looked up.
"I have to protect mommy!" He huffed while I only chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"That's good then. But I promise I'm good. Could you get your mother?" He nodded cautiously and backed up to the stairs before running up them.
I heard a bit of talking before Lady Aphmau came down the stairs. Her smile was quite contagious. "Hello again, Lady Aphmau." I bowed.
She giggled. "What did I tell you about being so formal, (M/n)? We're friends now, no need for that!"
I nodded with a pink blush. 'Friends..? I like the sound of that.' I gave her a bright smile. "I had some issues that I wanted to discuss with you. Alone?"
She nodded and told me to follow her.
