"Hey. I'm sorry about-."
"It's fine."
"No seriously, I'm sor-."
"And 'no seriously', I'm fine."
"Lady..."
"How many times do I have to tell you? I'm FINE! Can we move on please?"
"Okay."
She felt bad that she was being so rude. Everytime she saw Michael's face fall, she felt a pang of sadness. But she had to be. Hard, that is. She had to be numb and hard like a stone. She couldn't let anyone into her heart. Last time she did, they betrayed her. They broke her to pieces and left her with nothing to put them back together.
As for going to Michael's house, she couldn't. She just couldn't bare to see the happy family in the cheery atmosphere of those four walls, not without thinking of her family and how they used to be. She knew it was selfish of her; it wasn't Michael's or his his family's fault that she was alone and miserable. But she couldn't.
Because while his family was there, her family was gone.
