I was fidgeting the whole car ride to the office. Nate kept on telling me that I'll be great and all that stuff, but it didn't help with my nervosity. What if Miss Georgia doesn't like me? What if they'll make fun of me, being young and all that? I don't want that. What if—
Nate held my hand while he was driving. "M, stop worrying. I'm sure they'll love you there. I saw your sketches last night and they were mind-blowing. You're gonna be damn successful, sis." I smiled. I was thankful my brother was here to help me calm down, or else I'd be having the biggest mental breakdown of my life.
I continued playing horrible scenes in my head. I didn't realize that we were in front of my new office until Nate reached out and squeezed my hand, bringing me back to reality. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and quietly got out of his car. He told me he was going to pick me up at the end of my work. I waved goodbye as the car sped off and walked towards the entrance of the building. I took a deep breath before stepping inside.
I was in complete awe when I saw how grand the lobby is. Well this is, afterall, Georgia Margarett, what did I expect?
The receptionist smiled at me and I asked her what floor was Miss G's office located, politely telling her who I was.
"Floor 11, the room with the glass walls. You'll immediately notice it." I mumbled a thank you and looked at my reflection at the mirror wall while waiting for the elevator. I was wearing a loose plum-colored tank top beneath the thick, zipped-up gray faux leather sleeve cardigan I bought yesterday and paired those with tight black pants and brown wedge booties. The elevator door opened and I pushed the button that read '11'. I was surprised to see that the 11th floor was more posh than the the lobby. God, this place is like a wonderland!
It was easy to spot Miss G's office; it was the only office on the whole floor. There were white sofas pushed to the walls of the room and a glass coffee table, making it more homey yet professional at the same time. There was a table outside her office, and I assumed it was her secretary's. I think I'm going to really like this place.
"Hi, you must be the new assistant designer? Why don't you sit for a while? Miss G will be in soon." the secretary said.
A few minutes later, a woman who looked like she was in her late 30's stepped inside the room. Her vibrant blonde hair was pulled into a messy side bun, which complimented her face very well. She wore a red crisp-paneled skater dress that fell to her knees underneath her black pea coat. Her black stilettos clanked against the wooden floor as she made her way to the glass-walled office. She smiled and waved at her secretary before completely settling inside her office. I've seen her before in magazine covers and all over the internet, but she was more gorgeous in person. She's none other than the Georgia Margarett Wilson-Beaumont, the brains behind Georgia Margarett.
I glanced at the secretary who was waving her hand at me. "Miss G would like to see you now."
I confidently walked up to the glass door and smiled at the lady behind the huge desk. "Good morning, Miss Paige. How are you doing today?"
