"Hellooooo? Earth to Maddison?" my best friend Hayley waved her hand in front of my face.

"What?"

"Which one is better? The blue one or the black?" she asked while holding a pair of pumps in each hand. She flew out here last night from California and stayed over at my apartment. Today, she dragged me to some shoe store at 56th. Thank God it's Saturday, or else I'd have to find a lame excuse to leave work.

Hayley has been my best friend since we were babies. Our parents were best friends back when they were in high school, and became neighbors, so we've been stuck with each other ever since. She's practically become my sister and a part of my family, and I'm like that in hers too.

"Hmm..." I examined both shoes. "I'd go with black. The blue one looks trashy." I made a disgusting face. She punched my arm lightly.

"My God, Maddison. You look disgusting!" I laughed at her comment. "I missed doing this with you, M! God. It's really been ages!" she hugged me before running off to the cashier.

I walked up to where Hayley was, and I found her talking to some guy. Same, old her, going around flirting. I mentally chuckled at that. I have nothing against what she's doing; in fact, I think she's just enjoying herself. Hayley is far from those blonde bimbos willing to throw their bodies at random dudes they've known for only 5 seconds.

"I see hot guy over there asked for your number, and you're going to dinner tonight?" I teased her, and she nodded as her cheeks went red.

"C'mon, let's talk about your love life over lunch! I didn't have dinner last night, and I am starving." she pulled my arm as we exited the store, and called a cab. We went to the nearest pizza place and ordered their special. We sat down and started talking while waiting for the food.

"So, I heard about this guy you're seeing. Is he hot? I bet he is. Did you two already—"

I cut her off before she says something embarrassing. "Okay, Hales? First of all, I'm not seeing him, we're just friends; second, yes, he is hot, but I think that would be an understatement;" I winked and laughed. What? It's the truth. "and finally, no. What the hell is wrong with you?" I rolled my eyes at her.

"C'mon, Madds. You say he's hot, but you two are not dating? Okay, something is seriously wrong with you. Or maybe with him." her eyes widen and her mouth forms an 'o' while pounding the table. "Maybe he's gay!" she whisper-shouts. I smacked her arm and facepalmed at everything she's saying. I won't be surprised if people are staring at us right now.

"No. Liam's definitely straight. My brother would've told me if he was! I'm ninety-nine percent sure he's not gay. And to prove it, when I kissed him in the cheek Monday night after my first day of work, he blushed and he was totally being shy about it!" I giggled at the sight of Liam's red cheeks.

"Oh my God." she held her breath for a moment, then exhaled while talking. "I bet a million dollars that you're gonna fall in love with this dude within the next few months." Hayley declared, while pointing her finger at me. The waiter finally gave us our food, saving me from whatever embarrasing questions my best friend had saved for me.
