"Ha! I told you, M! Ted was going to end up Robin. Pay up." Hayley yelled at me. We just finished watching the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. We agreed we would watch this together, so nobody would spoil it to the other. Damn, I'm a big shipper of Ted and the mother. Why did she have to die? I groaned in disappointment and gave her twenty bucks.

"Whatever, Hales. It kinda sucks, you know? They spent the whole season focused on Robin and Barney's wedding - only for them to be divorced three years later. Ugh!" I rolled my eyes and smacked my hand on the pillow beside me. "I love the mother for Ted! They're like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly."

"Some things are just not meant to be." Hales let out a weak smile. Sadness was obvious in her voice. She flew here from Cali last night. Hayley and I always did this when we had problems or whatnot, in high school - crash at the other's place for comfort.

I rubbed her shoulders and told her everything's going to be alright. Apparently, Hales and the guy she dated when she last went here, Chris, made it official a few weeks ago. Whenever we Skyped, I can see happiness in her eyes, and I thought finally someone made her happy. It was the first time I saw Hayley so serious about a guy, and she really loved him. But now, all I can see in her was pain and sadness. Chris told Hales he needed a break from them, said he wanted to find himself before everything gets serious.

I mentally hissed. What kind of excuse is that? I mean, seriously? That's such a player original. Ugh.

"Enough about me." Hayley's eyes brightened all of a sudden. "So, how are things between you and Liam?" she winked.

"W-what?" I felt a blush creep up to my cheeks. "We're not a couple."

Hayley raised an eyebrow at me. "Really? So all the sudden closeness, the dinner and shopping meant nothing to you?"

"Yes, it meant nothing. F-friends!" I cleared my throat, trying to keep it smooth. "Yes, j-just friends. We're just friends." Seriously, Maddison. Why are you stuttering?

She laughed at me. "Sure, sure. It's so obvious, M. You two are clearly attracted to each other. I wouldn't be surprised if—"

"God, there's nothing happening between us, Hales. Let it slide, will you?" I snapped. Hayley, even I was surprised at my little outburst. "Sorry for snapping at you like that. It's just that," I paused, forcing myself to talk about that. "Liam and I talked a few nights ago, when we picked up a drunken Nate from the bar. He was about to say something, then he started stuttering and grasping for words. In the end, he decided not tell me whatever the hell it was. It really left me so freaking curious." I ran a hand to my hair, clearly annoyed.

We sat there in silence for a few minutes, until I cleared my throat. "Anyway, let's just forget the boy drama for now. We need to have fuuuun!" I yelled while jumping in my seat.

Hales chuckled before talking. "What do you say we have a little karaoke tonight?"
