I got out of the hospital and sighed. My clothes were clean and my neck only had a tiny scar. I held the bouquet of surprisingly still alive roses and looked at the number on them. I sat down on a bench and entered the number in my phone. I called Fortune and waited for her to answer.
"Who is this?!" Nadia hissed over the phone. She sounded as though she was running from someone.
"It's Tori? The girl you hospitalized accidentally?"
"Oh hey! How's it going?"
"I just got out and.... Are you okay?"
"Huh? Oh yeah! Just work and stuff!" I heard gunshots on the other end.
"Where are you!?"
"Innsmouth?! Why would you ask?"
"You sound like you're getting shot at is all, oh no biggie, don't worry!"
"You really shouldn't, I'm a nyambie, remem -".
"Where the fuck are you in Innsmouth!"
"Why do you -".
"Fucking tell me!"
"Okay okay! I'm a few blocks to the left of Yu Wan's".
"I'm coming to get you! Just hang tight!"
"Wait don't -". I hung up and started to run to my house. Only a few blocks later I ran into my garage and got into my car. Starting it, I drove quickly to Innsmouth and down the street, bypassing most lights. I came to a screeching halt next to a bloodstained sidewalk. Fortune ran around the corner and I threw the door open. She dove over the steering wheel and exploded into body parts as she hit the other side door. "Pull yourself together!" I shouted, stomping on the gas. I heard gunshots and bullets whizzed past me and through my back seat windows.
As my tires screeched against the wet asphalt Fortune was slowly forming herself together, finally putting her head back on. "What the hell were you doing!?"
"Some Medici family goons came to Yu Wan's place and I had to deal with them! Is that too much to do!?"
"No but fuck! You nearly killed me?! Couldn't you do it to them!?"
"I was trying not to became swiss cheese thanks!" She took her hand off and shook out some bullets. I swerved around a corner and sped back to my house. "Where'd you learn all this fancy driving?"
"I used to live in the Canopy Kingdom, I was apart of the Black Egrets," I sighed, pulling into my driveway.
"You? You're a little short to be an Egret dont'cha think?"
"Shut up! That's what Parasoul said..." Fortune laughed got out of the car.
"Pretty small house?" she commented.
"Shut it and get inside..." I growled.
"Someone's a bit feisty~" I mumbled under my breath and opened the door. Stepping in, Fortune stretched like a cat on the rug and pulled at it a bit with her claws. She started to walk around like normal again and found my bed. She curled up on it and yawned. "I'm beat, what about you?"
"I just got out of the hospital, of course I wanna sleep more". I sat on the bed and turned on my laptop.
"What'cha gonna do?"
"Write, maybe play some games, I don't know". I started to type and sighed. "Sorry for yelling..."
"It's cool, I wasn't really expecting you to come and save me anyways".
"You need something to eat?"
"Nah, I'll be fine". She started to get curious and look at my computer screen. I hid it, tiliting it a little away from her. She frowned and I continued to write. I noticed her out of the corner of my eye slowly taking her head off. She placed it on the pillow next to my head and looked curiously at my writing. I giggled and closed my laptop. "Is there a purr-oblem?" she asked grinning.
"You already made that one," I chuckled.
"Cut me some slack, there are only so many paw-ssible jokes". I laughed and put her head back on. She purred a bit and I smiled.
"You're kinda pretty".
"Aww, thanks!"
I blushed a bit and Fortune grinned, arching an eyebrow. "Somebody's blushing~" she swooned. I pushed her playfully.
"Daww shut up ya felon..." I giggled.
"So what melts that purr-ine heart of yours?~"
"Stop~ You're already making me blush". She cuddled up to me softly and I laughed. "S-stop it!~"
"No way cutie~ You're all mine~". She wrapped herself around me and nibbled on my neck. It tickled as her fangs softly pressed against my neck. As Fortune nibbled she purred, her tail wagging softly. Her phone buzzed. "Dang it..." she whined, "I was having fun...." She pulled her phone out of her pocket and it was a text from Minette.
"Aww jeez, I forgot...."
"What's up?"
"It's Minette's birthday on Saturday.... I forgot...." Fortune groaned and I looked around my room.
"Does she like jewelry at all?"
"Uh, I guess yeah?" I got up and went to my closet, pulling out a jewelry box. I opened it and many boxes of untouched jewelry sat inside.
"Here, choose".
"Huh?"
"I've never been much of a jewelry person, here". Fortune looked through them and then looked at me. "I-I couldn't... People paid money to give you these".
"You're not above a little thievery, c'mon~" I smiled at her and she giggled. She took a necklace box and shook her head laughing.
"Thanks hun". She kissed me softly, blushing. I blushed even harder than she and put the box away.
"Th-thank you...." I stammered. Fortune brushed my cheek softly and lifted my chin.
"Same time tomorrow? I'll be back~" Fortune pet me and started out of my house. When she finally left, I laid in my bed and grinned softly, taking a small cat nap.
