It was a dead winter night when I first met Jack.

I was thrown out of the house by my own mother because she thought I was flirting her boyfriend who was actually the one forcing himself to me.

"You bitch! Get the hell out of my house!" she shouted as she drags me outside.

"Mother, you got it wrong! It was him!" I begged.

"Shut up, you damn brat! How dare speak of him like that! He is your father!"

"NO HE IS NOT AND HE WILL NEVER BE!" I shouted. Mother ran to me and began kicking me.

"Useless brat! Why don't you just die already! Your face always remind me of that man!" she shouted.

I wasn't shocked to hear that actually. I knew she wanted to get rid of me eversince my father died. She wanted to forget the past but she is stuck with me. I know wants to bring me to the orphanage so she can be with THAT GUY.

Well, I don't need her too. I will go to the orphanage by myself. I stood up and started to wobble away from that cursed house.

It's getting really cold and I can barely walk anymore because the snow is too thick. Aside from that, I'm getting really drowsy but I sleep here I'll never wake up again. I'll just freeze to death here. Honestly, I prefer dying out here rather than living in hell.

I tried to walk more... and more... and more...till I don't feel my body anymore.

I stared at the sky, with the stars and moon as the audience of my miserable death.

Trying to stay up for few more moments...

Few more...

Please I don't want to die...

not... yet...

As everything get all blurred, the colors of the stars started to merge into one... something bigger than the moon. . . It's so... mesmerizing... Jack Frost?

"A-are you okay?!" I heared a faded voice. I tried to open my eyes but I can only see that person's hair.

"H-help... me..." I murmured

"What should I do?"

"Warm..."

"Oh! Warm place I got it!" he said and carried me.

I woke up in a cave, there was a bonfire. I moved near to it and warmed myself.

"Warm enough?" I was startled when I heard a voice from behind the rock.

"W-who's there?"

"Don't be scared. I'm not a bad guy." A guy wearing a blue hoodie came out of the shadows. He pulled down his hood and revealed his snow white hair.

"You're... the one who saved me?"

He nodded.

"Thank you." I gratefully said.

"So...uh... what's your name?" he asked.

"I'm Alice. And you are?"

"Jack Frost."

"Jack... Frost?!" i said unintentionally raising my voice.

"Why? What's wrong?"

"H-How...? Y-You're--"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down. Let me explain. I am Jack Frost and I am not a human like you. I'm a guardian, guardian of the snow. I actually make them."

"I almost died because of the snow..."

"W-Well at least I saved you so uhh... we're even!"

"Hmm... Okay."

Jack jumped at the rock behind me. And started to ask questions.

"So what were you doing out there? Why are you alone? Where are you supposed to be going?"

"I ran away."

"Huh?" he looked so puzzled.

"Don't ask..."

"Well, um. Okay. How can I help you?"

"Jack, please bring me to the farthest shelter from here."

"What's wrong with this pla--"

"Please, Jack! I beg you. I can't stay here anymore!" I begged.

Jack didn't asked anymore. He put his arms around and said, "Hold on." Before I can even react, he jumped out and started to fly. I don't know if it scared me or amazed me because... c'mon I'm flying. And a guardian is carrying me.

I looked up and saw the stars... again. Last time I saw them was when I almost died.

Jack floated higher. I felt the clouds touch my skin. When I opened my eyes again, I saw the moon... like it's watching us.

"He's watching us." Jack said.

"Who?"

"The moon."

"Oh, I just got a hunch about that."

"He is our creator."

"Our?"

"Ah, you know. Santa, Easterbunny, Toothfairy."

"They're real?!" my reaction when I realized that I used to believe in them.

"Yeah, just like me."

Somehow, this is my first time feeling lucky for escaping death and meeting Jack. I've never experienced being lucky before. My whole life I only experienced misfortune. No wonder why she calls me 'Child of Misfortune'.

"We're here." Jack said.

We were in front of an orphanage just like I wanted. My heart throbbed. I wanted to live here eversince I was a kid. This place... away from them.

I walked towards the door of my new life, but before I knocked, I looked back at Jack.

"Thank you, Jack. I owe you my whole life."

"You're welcome, Alice."

...

...

...

That was the first time I heard someone calling me by my name...

I replied to him with a grateful smile. A smile that I can only do when I am very happy. He waved and soar up to the night sky.
