“Hey, glad you could make it!” Joey said as I walked into the Lima Bean. “Yup! Told you I would! I don't break my promises!” I gave him a hug and we sat down. “So? How are you?” he askes as we sit across from each other. “I'm great, what about you?” he looked at me like he was expecting something exciting. “I'm okay, What do you have planed for us today?” I ask him. I see he was shocked by my question.
“Well, I was thinking, if okay with you, that we could go to the zoo. My cousin works there, and well, he can get us in the privet areas. That okay with you?” My eyes lit up at the word zoo, I haven't been to one in years. “Of corse! I would love that! Thanks!” I grab his hand and he looked surprised. “Well, lets go then, we are taking my car!” He didn't let go of my hand as we headed out to his pick-up truck.
“Ready?” he looked at me as he started the truck. “More than ever.” And with that we drove off.
“You don't know your beautiful!” Joey was singing at the top of his lungs and I couldn't stop laughing. “That's what makes you beautiful!” as he finished the song he looked at me and I knew he ment that last line toward me. I grab his hand and tell him 'This has been the best ride I've had in a long time, thanks!” While I'm talking I feel the car stop, “We're here!” he yelled as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
“Hey Carla, can you unlock the door?” An older woman opened the gate and pulled him into a hug. “And who is this beautiful girl Joey?” she strode over and shook my hand. “Carla, Aleigha, Aleigha, Carla. Carla is the owner of the zoo, also my aunt. Aunt Carla, Aleigha goes to school with me, shes the other new student who made the Warblers.”
“Well, congrats Aleigha, hope you two have fun, I'll see you at lunch Joey.” With that she ran off. “She's nice.” I say holding in a laugh and walk over to where Joey was. He took my hand and drug me into the zoo and dashed to the staff room behind the monkey exhibit. “What are we doing in here?” I ask after seeing that noone was in there. “I remembered you said monkeys were your favorite animal, and I wanted you to get to help me feed them. I set it up this morning. That okay?” I could tell he was searching my face for emotion.
I jumped and gave him a hug. He hugged me back, I didn't want that moment to end. “Ready?” he asked putting me down and walking into a little room. “Born Ready!” I ran after him ready for the day of a lifetime!
“You ready for lunch?” Joey asked me after he closed the doors to the elephant enclosure. “I guess.” I was smiling from ear to ear. He lead us out and the golf cart we had been using all morning to get from one side to another. He when and sat in the passenger seat and looked at me, “Your turn to drive!” I look at him in disbelief. I jump in the drivers seat and take off the back roads for golf carts only.
Once we got to the front Joey runs to the staff room and I start to follow but he stops me. “Stay in the cart, I'll be back.” and his head disappears into the staff room. I sit there for what seams like years then finally comes out and takes us to his truck. “I thought Carla was coming to lunch with us.” I look at him confused. “She couldn't make it, you ready?” We pull out of the parking lot and head to the restaurant row in town.
15 mins later we pull into the parking lot of Red Lobster. “Joey, we don't have to go here! Burger King would be fine.” He looked at me with those big eyes and smiled, “This is also fine!” He got out of the truck and came over and opened my door. “Why thank you.” I laughed as he bowed jokingly. We walked into the restaurant and Joey told them “Richter, party of 4.” I looked around wondering who else was there. “They are already back there, have a nice day.” Joey grabbed my hand and took me to a back room.
“Hey beautiful!' I hear, I turn to see who the voice belongs to, “Kurt! Blaine! What are y'all doing here?” I run up the the boys. “I told you Joey came by last night and set this up. I told him Kurt was in town so he asked us to lunch and made me promise not to tell.” I look to joey and grab his hand and gave it a squeeze. “Thanks.” I said completely sincere.
