Twilight's last gleaming

I wake up in the middle of the night by Octavia who's calling for me. “Summer! Get out here. Bellamy! You have to see this!” I get up as does Sterling. I put on my boots and leave the tent with Sterling right behind me. He doesn't bother to put on his shirt. I look around and spot Octavia. She's standing next to Bellamy who's also shirtless. Like I said. Must be a boy-thing. He looks at me and then at Sterling behind me. Is he jealous? I look back at him when I see two girls only covered in blankets coming out of his tent. He notices my gaze and looks away guilty.
“What is it, O?”, I ask when I come to a stop next to her. She points up to the sky and we see something falling to the ground. “The Ark is sending us help”, she cheers. “It's to small for a drop ship. Guess it's a pod. Maybe some supplies”, I suggest smiling. I look at Bellamy who seems to be scared of what they send down. I remember what he said back in the cave. “Let's just say I've got blood on my hands.” So, do I. But I have to save the camp. I can deal with Jaha later about my fate.
“I hope they send down some shampoo”, I hear one of Bellamy's bitches say. Roma. “Yeah, that's what we need down here. Even if we're gonna die we would at least have good looking hair”, I snap at her and walk back into Sterling's tent to get my gear and my jacket. I put on my quiver and my bow and leave the tent. On the makeshift table next to another tent I grab a new knife since I gave mine to Murphy and put it in my boot and another one into my belt. I walk into the main tent as Bellamy and some others are already looking at the map. “If it has cleared the ridge it must have landed near the lake”, one guy says. “We should get going”, I say but Bellamy counters, “Not while it's dark. It's not safe. We leave at first light. Spread the word”, he says and the boys leave the tent. “Everyone around saw this thing coming down. What if the grounders get there first? We should go, Bell”, Octavia tries to reason him but he remains cold. “I said no!”, he says and pushes past her. She looks at me sadly and leaves as well. I follow them and look around the camp. I'm gonna find out what's in that pod. Even without your help, Blake. I walk over to Bellamy's tent and rush into it as Roma shoots an angry look at me. “Ever heard of knocking?!”, she snaps. Looks like no one of that stupid bitches ever thought about that question. You can't knock on a tent. “It's still a tent. You can't knock on a tent! It would make no sounds!”, I say annoyed, “Where's Bellamy?!” “He left some time ago”, she sneers. His gear is gone. I run out of the tent and into the woods. I should have known when I looked in his eyes.

I sprint through the woods when I hear someone a couple of feet away from me running as well. I stop and look around when I see Bellamy running in my direction. Seems like he didn't see me yet. I stand behind a tree and lean against it waiting for him to past me. When he does I speak up, “You know you can't lie to me!” He spins around and looks at me shocked. “What are you doing here?!”, he snaps and walks over to me. “I could ask you the same, Blake!” “Sam, you don't understand. I can't let them come down.” “Yeah, you've got blood on your hands. I remember. So do I. But we can't let the others die because of that.” “They'll kill me when they come down.” “What did you do?”, I ask him as I walk closer to him. He looks at the ground and finally up to me with sad eyes. “I shot him. I shot Jaha.” I gasp in disbelief. “What? Why?” “Someone came to me with a deal. Do it. Kill him and you get a seat on the drop ship and I did it.” “Shumway”, I say more to myself than to him. He looks at me confused. “Yeah. How do you know that?”, he asks. “Doesn't matter right now”, I wave him off. I could get him out of that misery. I have something they would be more interested in than in him. “I couldn't let you and O go alone down to earth. I had to do it”, he says frantically when his face suddenly gets pale. I turn around and see Octavia standing behind me with a shocked expression. “I didn't ask for any of that”, is all she says as she takes off away from us. Bellamy starts to follow her but I put my hands on his chest and stop him. “Go and do what you have to. I'll follow her”, I sigh and force a smile at him. “Thank you, Summer”, Bellamy says as I turn around and run to find Octavia.

It feels like hours of looking for her. But she's nowhere to be found. I start to worry. I hope nothing bad happened to her. After some time I reach a hill. Looking down I can see blood on a rock down that hill. I carefully try to make my way down but of course my foot slips and I fall. I hit my head and a cut underneath my eye shows up and starts bleeding. I slowly get up but I struggle to keep my balance. Suddenly I feel two hands getting hold of me and keeping me from falling. I spin around and look straight in the face of a grounder. I stumble backwards and trip over the rock falling on my back. I watch him as he walks over to me with his eyes trained on me. He doesn't look like a bad guy. He holds out his hand waiting for me to grab it.

I hesitate as I search his face. I eventually grab his hand and he carefully pulls me up. “Th.. Thank you”, I stutter but he doesn't show any reaction. He drags me with him and after some time we walk into a cave. Suddenly I spot Octavia and yank my hand away from him and rush over to her. She seems unconscious. “What happened to her?”, I ask but he's already gone.
