Chapter 8
"Sweetie, you should really go. Look like you could do with some good rest." The nurse who I discovered her name was Janice, told me. It was been 3 days since the whole incident with Rider and right now I'm in the hospital. Like a huge lump on the chair right next to Riders bed.
"Its okay Janice, anyways I'll be all alone at home if I go back." I chuckled slightly and so did Janice as she walked away.
"Is that really why your here." I hear Rider whisper as I bolt up from my seat.
"Rider!" I say as I dive deep down to embrace him.
"Maria, my ribs." He says and I immediately get up. I could feel the heat rise to my cheek, as my once olive skin completion was not crimson.
"Sorry." I say shyly. Just then I realize something and hit his arm.
"Ouch! what was that for." He asks again.
"For almost dying. What were you thinking Rider, do you even know how worried I was about yo-." I stop myself from saying anything else as I realize what I'm saying.
"You were worried about me." He says with a smile. His eyes were half closed, half open.
"Ugh! of course I was. You hit the ground pretty hard." I say. I stand there like the big idiot and just watching his perfect face. Wishing I could run my finger down his sharp jawline.
"I'm sorry, I just thought it would make you excited." He said as he grabbed my hand. I held his hands how rough and warm his hand was, the hands of a man.
"You don't have to do anything for me you big dummy. Now get some rest." I say as I tighten my grip on his hand before letting go, but he suddenly grabs my hand again.
"Don't go." He whispers. I nod and sit down back in my chair as I still hold his hand. "Did anyone tell aunty cherry what happened?" He asks.
"No, James said she would of had an heart attack and I seconded him on that." I laugh.
"Ha! your right." He says as he let's out his own little laugh.
"Rider, you know your not going to be able to go to school for a while right." I tell him.
"Yeah, I know." He says as he closed his eyes.
"I'll have to be taking care of you from now on, well more then usual." I chuckled to myself.
"I wouldn't mind." He said while a smirk had formed on his face, eyes still closed. "You never talk this much." He says which makes me realize that I've actually never really talked this much around him or anyone accept Cherry.
"Well...yeah." I said. I actually didn't really know what else to say to him. I was speechless to say the least.
"Thank you." He whispers squeezing hand softly.
"For?" I ask with my eyebrows raised.
"For being here and doing what you do." He said as he let go of my hand and placed it on the side of him. To say I was touched by his words would've been an understatement.
A few days later, Rider was released from the hospital and James had helped me take him home. Right now I was in the kitchen getting dinner ready for Rider, also carefully picking his medication so that he can take it. For the past 2 days Rider has been complaining like a baby to take his medicine, trying to avoid taking it at any chance he gets. After I was done making his chicken and corn soup dinner, I placed everything on the silver platter plate and even his medication and headed upstairs.
"Rider." I said while I entered his room.
"Yeah?" He resounded.
"Its time to have your dinner." The worse part for Rider in all of this was that I treated him like a baby, watching his every move making sure he doesn't do anything stupid.
"Ugh! cant I have it later." He complains like his usual grumpy self.
"No, the doctor said you have to eat at this time and have you medication afterwards." I say sternly shutting him up.
I take the stool from the corner and place it next to his bed. I place his food on the nightstand and help him to sit up just a little. His ribs weren't. Broken that bad but they probably still hurt really bad.
"Hope you like what I made." I say nervously.
"You know I like anything you make." He slightly chuckled making me smile.
I took the bowl and spoon and held it close to his. He opened his mouth and I gently placed the spoon filled with chucked and corn soup watching as he dragged his soft lips of the spoon and His Adams apple dropped up and down. Damn he was sexy.
"Wow, this is great." He said with a. Mouthful making me laugh at him.
"Don't talk with your mouth full." I said still giggling at him. Even he started laughing and a little of the soup fell form his mouth making me laugh even more and getting a. Tissue from the night stand.
"Gosh! You're such a baby." I said as I wiped his chin and then his mouth. But that's when everything went silent. When my fingers lingered on his soft lips. It was if I was frozen and so was he. I found myself tracing the smooth outline of his perfectly shaped lips.
I realized what I had been doing. Leaning forward. I suddenly pulled back and continued wiping his face and feeding him.
