Chapter 7
(MARIAS P.O.V)
"Rider!!!" I screamed as I saw his limp body out cold on the floor. James and some other guys ran to him while I did the same. I was speechless all I wanted to do was go see if he was okay and if his just knocked out or something. The worry had boiled up within me as if it was a volcano ready to explode.
"Please tell me his okay." I ask James as I bend down next to him.
"His still breathing but we need to get him to an hospital right now!" James and a few other guys had suddenly picked Rider up and started moving him out the rodeo.
I could feel the warm liquid run down my face as I started to cry uncontrollably.
"Come on Maria, I can take you to the hospital with Riders truck." Lizzy said as she to had a frantic look on her face. I nodded in response as I saw James had handed her Riders keys just before he could get on that deadly animal.
"Don't worry Maria, he will be fine." Lizzy's words would have comforted me if it weren't for the cracks in between. I could tell she herself was also on the verge of tears.
We had drove behind the car James had Rider in and all through the drive I felt like I was having a mini heart attack. What if he wasn't okay? God dammit! Why Rider, his a good person. These past few days he hasn't been around much but when he was present I enjoyed his company, a lot. What if all that could be taken away from me because of some stupid bull.
About 3 hours later, Lizzy and James were still waiting with me as we waited for the doctor to give us the latest report on Riders condition. I was completely speechless. I didn't even know what to say right.
"Rider Marshall." A doctor called out and we all instantly stood up.
"His with us." James's said as he held Lizzy tightly.
"Son, your friend took a huge blow to the head and a few of his ribs seem to be cracked. Luckily there's no internal damage in his head so he will be okay. His going to take a lot of time to heal, he will probably be in bed for a very long time and someone's going to have to take care of him." The doctor says.
"I'll take care of him." I instantly say.
"It won't be easy my dear, you sure you guys don't want to keep in the hospital." The doctor suggests.
"Its fine, I can take care of him." I was as confident as could be. If there was anyone who can take care if a person its me.
"You sure about this Maria, I could just have him at my house." James says.
"I can do this James, after all its what I'm paid for, to take care of him." I say with a slight smile.
"Okay, then well if your going to be taking him home, he needs about a weeks treatment in the hospital and then you can take him home with prescribed medication." The doctor says.
"It's done then." I say as I run a hand through my hair.
" When can we see him?" James ask.
"Well his in a slight coma, so when he wakes up we can give you guys a call. We already have your details when you guys brought him in. Don't worry there's no safer place for him to be." The doctor said winking at us as he left.
"Thanks a lot Maria, your truly are a great person." Lizzy says as she hugs me tightly.
"I just want him I get better so I can beat his ass for getting on that death machine." I laugh softly.
"Please! When your beating his ass call me straight away so I can help with that." James says as we all burst out laughing softly.
"I swear he gave me an heart attack." I say more to myself then anyone else.
"You and me sister." Lizzy says, clearly she had heard me.
"Maria I think its time we go get some rest. I promise we will bring you here in the morning." James says as I nod in understanding. Guilt building up in me for leaving Rider here at the hospital.......alone.
One thing for sure, I'm definitely going to be here every day and night the whole week to make sure the buggers all right. Gosh I want to scream at him so badly right now for almost dying. He could have been seriously injured, wait he was seriously injured. What was he even thinking?
"So you're sure you'll be able to be all alone in that huge house." James asks as we head out to the parking lot.
"Yeah." I said as I smiled softly trying to reassure him.
"How do we know you won't run away with all Riders valuables?" James asked all to seriously. Lizzy had punched his arm for being forward but I wasn't least offended, he was just trying to protect his friend.
"His aunty was there for me when I needed someone. She knows where I live and she was my mums best friend." I chuckled. The last part was definitely not a lie but the part about knowing where I live was a total lie because I didn't actually have a home.
"You've made her feel offended, your such an idiot." Lizzy said punching James for the second time.
"Ouch! I was just asking." James says as he looks down at the ground while we walk.
"Sure." Lizzy said as she rolled her eyes at James. "We're going to take Riders truck, follow us." She says as James nods at her.
Lizzy and I walk of to the opposite direction in which she had parked Riders truck.
"How did you even learn how to drive trucks?" Rider's truck was pretty big. It was a ford Ranger, full black.
"My dads a farmer so I kind of know a lot about farming and driving tractors and stuff so a little old truck like this is nothing." Lizzy shrugged.
"OH." Was my simple reply.
"You seemed pretty worried about Rider." Lizzy eyed me curiously. Gosh! I knew this question would be coming.
"Well his the only guy that has ever treated me like.... Well like a friend I guess and I don't want anything to change. For example, something bad like a bull knocking him down to the ground and injuring him badly." I said honestly. But I knew deep down inside that I wanted Rider to be more to me then just a friend but why would someone like Rider want me. I heard he has every girl running wild that passes his path.
"Good point." Lizzy replied. She was truly a nice girl. She was so beautiful as well she and James made a really nice couple James was quite handsome not like Rider but he was handsome enough for girls to be crushing over him while Lizzy could make guys drool. She's definitely not like the snobby girls who act all bitchy. But something about the way she said "good point" didn't sound like she believed me.
I couldn't care. All I really cared about was Rider. Gosh I had it bad.
