Huddled together under a bookshelf sat the two boys, if only they had known the horrors that would befall them that night. Dana would have told his parents the reason he didn't have a girlfriend was because he didn't have eyes for girls, he probably would have dyed his hair silver and bought the things he had been saving up for if only he had the time. Elizabeth wouldn't have kept on her act for so long, she would have stopped bringing up the things she knew bothered the guys that she would always say out of spite, she would have gotten in touch with her parents and thanked them for paying her college tuition, even though she dropped out, and would have said 'au revoir' to her dog, Sky, before she left the house for the trip.
Now, neither of them could do either of those things, neither of them could do anything they wished they could achieve and the bitter taste sat in Davie's mouth as he sat quietly with Adrian under a dusty bookshelf, Adrian was wheezing through the dust and little breathe he had left while fighting to keep his eyes open, Davie looked down to his watch, it was nearing 3:33 am. He rolled his eyes, the two have them had been sitting there for a half an hour, they had three more hours left to go before daylight. The plan had changed entirely from the instance with Elizabeth, they've already attempted to escape before they could dwindle down in numbers but in the end the two cowardly blondes sat on the floor as they attempted to wait the three hours of the night left so that they could simply get out with the aid of the sun. Afterall, if the sun was up there were higher chances that the boys would run into people who could help them than there was before.
Davie looked up at the locked door across the room, after discarding the flashlights at the scene with Elizabeth his eyes had adapted to the darkness, he shifted the way he sat slightly as he realized he was still wearing the strap to hold onto his hand held camera, the one he had thrown across the floor when he first wanted to warn everyone of what had happened to Dana. He let out a long sigh, the jolted breathing of Adrian and the shuffles of his sneakers on the floor were all that could be heard in the room, the dust and attempts to talk had really done a number on his vocal cords.
"Hey, it's okay calm down.. You can get some sleep or whatever you need Adrian, we've got a few hours left and all we have to do is wait it out okay?" Davie said trying to reassure the boy, who was clutching a bundle of his shirt, the black star against the gold background crumpled up in his right hand, his left on the floor, it was covered in burns and several bruises along the knuckles from when he had punched the walls while the two of them were running to the room.
"I'm tired but, I can't sleep. Last person who fell asleep was killed.." He said in his raspy voice, it didn't fit the honey tone he had sported in the beginning of the night as had he sang various songs of a one sided romance, now he sat with tear filled eyes, Davie knew he wouldn't be able to get onto any broadway shows with how he had injured what was left of his voice in the past two hours, and while Davie had already gone through these things Adrian had not.
"The door is locked, just give me the pocket knife and if anything happens from now until you wake up I'll defend you until you can help okay? Nothing is going to change if you stop exhausting yourself for a few minutes at least.." Davie urged though he saw the immediate distaste of this plan on Adrian's face,
"It's not happening okay, we still have no idea who or what is roaming these halls, I mean, they rigged the chandelier to fall and were able to dispose of Elizabeth in the ten minutes we were separated, god she was in a room full of people and he still managed to get her without us seeing her." Adrian spoke in the most forceful voice he could muster without injuring himself, the way his said 'disposed' made Davie wrinkle his nose, it was an odd word choice and rather vulgar for someone who could barely meek out a sentence when Dana had died,
