The boys let go of each other's hands as the caught their breath, as of now no one was in their way of getting out so they needed to make sure they could run for an extended amount of time from where they stood. The floor below was still littered with blades of glass, Adrian handed over Elizabeth's shoes to Davie, he had grabbed them from when they fell off,
"Here take these, you'll run more efficiently and won't injure yourself any further.." He said as the two sneakers were pushed into Davies hands, who put them all diligently, if he had any questions he would save them for later but, for now there was no real reason to put themselves into a conversation over some shoes. He slipped them over his feet, they were tight but at least he wouldn't be impaled as he had before, a few more deep breathes were had as the boys exchanged glances several times before they placed their hands on the handles and broke back into their sprint down the stairs, Davie was skipping steps, three or four at a time but, Adrian was off he was staring down at his feet as he took it step by step as quickly and as cautiously as he possibly could, reaching the ground floor first, Davie stood on the glass, the noise of it was very off setting, like nails on a chalk board.
Looking up as Adrian made his way down the stairs he heard Adrian mutter things as he urged Davie to continue on but, alas Davie refused to move if the two of them weren't getting out of this place together. Adrian reached the bottom in seconds and the boy's started across the main floor, the glass cracked under their weight and slide against the wooden floor,
"Wait- Please halt!" A feminine voice echoed into the room, the eyes of the two boys grew wide as the desperately recognized it as Elizabeth, their bodies halted as they sprinted to the door and started running towards the voice, the fact that the voice used the word 'halt' didn't even strike as strange, but the two were so sleep deprived, hungry, and desperate for what had happened in the night to be false that their heads couldn't help but distort the pitchy girls voice to be Elizabeth.
Keeping at their pace they darted in a dark room, the two almost collided with a billiard table, it was the recreational room, they had shot the chess gimmick in here.
"Elizabeth come on we need to get out of here, please we're gonna make it!" Adrian said as loud as he possibly could, his throat was becoming easier to speak in but his voice was still a chalky mess,
"Elizabeth Montreal, please.. We need to go.." He said his voice dropping as he looked around the room, Davie was staying oddly quiet as the room was still fairly dim, the only light source were a few streams from the singular window in front of the room.
"Adrian we should go.."
"Elle.. Elizabeth.."
"We can come back for her, come on we shoul-"
"Please someone!" The feminine voice returned like clockwork and both of the boys perked up to the sound, it was much closer than it had been before and even if they were deranged, hearing it a second time confirmed that this voice definetly did not belong to their Elizabeth but, it was so helpless and fragile. Whomever it belonged too had a high pitched voice and couldn't be older than sixteen, the boys exchanged glances before leaving the billiard room and heading down the hall back towards the main door, this poor girl would have to wait, after all whomever it was had been moving closer, the three of them could meet outside,
"Head towards the opening to the manor! We'll meet you there!" Davie called as he faced the ceiling while running, a few seconds after that the noise of low heeled shoes clacking joined the echos of the boys, sliding back into the main foyer the boys moved across the first half of the glass, where Elizabeth's smeared handprints could be seen, the two of them made sure to face away from the hall where she was hung as they didn't want to risk seeing her in the morning lighting,
