Chapter Five: Renewal

Eren's POV
"L-Levi??"
My eyes start to tear up as I keep shaking him. I look down at his wrists and sees the blood that leaked from his arm to the bed.
"Oh my God...N-no...y-you didn't...you can't be!"
I stare at him in disbelief, not knowing what to do.
Holding my head, gripping my hair tightly, I start to cry uncontrollably. Quickly standing up, I run to one of the drawers and pulls it all the way out, dropping it on the floor. I get to my knees, searching through the drawer, eventually finding a suture kit and gauze. Rushing back to Levi, I start to shakily stitch the cuts, my fingers fumbling and shaking the whole time. Eventually, I calmed down and finished, cutting the ending thread with my teeth. After wrapping his arm up, I listen for his heartbeat, praying he's still alive.
My eyes light up, hearing a small beat. Looking back at him, I start to think, and I know that he's not going to stay alive like this. He needs more blood.
"You're going to be ok Levi..."
I comb his hair back with my fingers, trying to sort out in my mind what to do next. I guess I have to wait. His body needs to make more blood...that's all....
I slide under the covers and lay next to him, scooting my head next to his neck, kissing his neck lightly.
"You're ok...You're ok...."
I repeat that over and over, til I fall asleep.

The night hours slowly pass, the sun rises, shining light onto them. At this time, Mikasa comes in holding a red rose for Eren, but drops it when she walks in, staring at the two.
'That...fucking midget...still thinks he can steal my Eren...'
As she walks towards them, she stops, looking at there interlocked hands. She stands there, thinking for a minute, until she turns and walks back out, forming a plan to destroy their relationship.

Eren's POV

I felt his hand gripping mine, his grip getting stronger. As I opened my eyes, I saw him staring at me, his eyes red from crying.
I opened my mouth to say something, but his soft lips interrupted me, lovingly kissing me.
I shed a few tears and close my eyes, kissing him back softly.
I keep him from parting away, holding the back of his head. I finally pull away, smiling sweetly at him.
"You're...ok..."
"I'm ok...you're ok too..."
He lifts his arm to look at the wraps, frowning as he does.
"You did this?"
I nod, softly grabbing that arm, bringing his hand to my chest.
"I did."
When I looked back at him, he was smiling. He. Was. Actually. Smiling.
"A-are you ok Levi?"
"Heh...I'm fine. I'm just...happy."
My eyes widened, feeling warm at hearing him say that.
"You're...happy?"
"Yes, I am."
I smiled in return, kissing his forehead.
"Eren?"
"Yes?"
"I've been...wanting to ask you something..."
"What is it?"
"Well...I've loved you for a while...and so...I was wondering-"
Suddenly Hanji bursts in with Erwin, eager about us being awake.
"Hey guys! Finally! We we're so worried, but you're alive, so everything's all good right??"
"R...right.."
Levi responds, sounding less happier than before. His smile disappeared as well.
"Well then, get up you two! We have a long day ahead of us. We're going into town. You know how we said Annie was the female titan? We have a plan, so get ready!"
They both walked out, leaving us alone.
"Well, let's just get up."
He says that as he gets out of bed, limping to the door.
We get ready for the day, Saddling up on our horses. As I look at Levi, he's still in pain, both his arm and leg. He tugs his jacket sleeve down further so no one sees his wrist.
We rode into town.
Me, Mikasa, and Armin meet up with Annie.

Levi's POV

'Don't skrew this up Eren...If you actually die, I won't forgive you.'
I hold my arms, leaning against the wall. I looked towards the carriage the others came in, with Jean dressed up as Eren to fool the guards. Heh...stupid assholes...
Closing my eyes, I start to think about earlier this morning.
'Eren...I need you to know how much I really love you. I have to ask you this...I have to..."
In the distance, there was a lightning explosion, followed by the screams of terror from the civilians.
'Shit...I knew the plan would fail...'
A few minutes passed, and I expected Eren was going to go after her...but he wasn't.
I started to get worried, worrying about Eren, hoping something didn't go wrong.
'Come on Eren...please...'
After a while, I was already about to assume that the plan is completely ruined, then we're all skrewed. But finally we hear the roar, surging through streets chasing after Annie.
We all met up to watch the fight. Eren was on top of her, but he ripped her nape off, and was about to eat her. There was a blinding flash of blue light, and this crystal like substance was surrounding her, causing her and Eren to start merging. I flew over there and sliced Eren out.
"Don't eat valuable evidence, idiot."
Not long after, we were all surrounding Annie. Mikasa was holding Eren, which was pissing me off. I turned my head to try and ignore the fact. He was unconcious though, which was getting me worried.
We went back to HQ and layed Eren in bed. Mikasa and Armin stayed in there with him when Erwin dragged me to his office to talk.
Later, I went back to his room, luckily no one else was in there. I walked to his bedside and stared at him, still thinking this is somehow my fault. He was just eaten...and now this?
I kissed his forehead lightly, then turned to walk back out, but a tug on my jacket prevented me from leaving. As I glanced back, he was weakly holding my sleeve, his eyes half open.
"Don't leave me captain..."
"...I'll never leave.."
I sat next to him, putting my hand against his forehead.
"Are you ok?"
"I'm fine..."
He sits up, the covers falling as he holds his head.
"Hungry at all? I could fix something u-"
"No. I don't want you to leave, so it's ok."
"Ok..."
We sat in silence for a while, the white, translucent curtains on the window flowing from the wind.
"Well...now's a good a time as any..."
I dig into my pocket, pulling out a small, black, velvet case. My heart was pulsing quickly and my hands were getting sweaty, getting nervous for what I'm about to do.
"Eren...I've loved you for a while and well...how can I put this...I want to start a new. I know we can't quit the scouts, but maybe..after all this bullshit mess...we could start over and refresh our lives. I...I want to ask you..."
I looked back up at him, his face a bright red, his eyes were actually tearing up. To be honest..I felt a bit teary eyed myself. Opening the box, presented two golden rings inside, with "Eren" engraved on one, and "Levi" engraved on the other.
"Will you marry me?"
