Heichou Loves Me?!

Chapter Eight: Freedom

Eren's POV

We rode together for what seemed like hours. We saw wall Maria and immediately headed there. The strong wind didn't keep us back. The beaming sun didn't keep us down. This is the moment we all wanted. Ever since me and Armin were kids, we dreamed of this day. Yeah, we stopped talking about it as we got older, but now's our chance to see if it's real! It has to be!
We get to the closed gate and stop, staring up at the top of the wall. A couple garrison members are up there, looking down at us.
"Where'd you guys come from?!"
"We're in the scout regiment, but our brigade is total shit! Let us in!"
With a heavy sigh, they called down to their comrades on the ground. The gate starts to lift and we ride through, continuing on through the town. The townsfolk shouted at us, some shouts good, some shouts bad. We ignored them either way, riding to the end of the city. There was another gate.
"Hey, open up!"
Levi looks at a couple drunk garrison members, playing cards on a couple crates.
"Nah nah...no one's allowed to go outside the walls.."
"Tch...I swear if you don't let us through..."
Levi jumps of the horse and quickly walks to them, grabbing one by the collar and shoving him up against the wall.
"I will shove my foot so far up your fucking ass, you'll be shitting leather for 2 weeks..Now open the fucking gate."
The man was staring down at Levi, eyes wide. His friend walks up to them.
"Maybe we should...that's Captain Levi, the stongest man in the world. He could kill us all if he wanted."
Levi lets go of the guy, who rushes to the lever and started pulling up the gate.
Levi hops back on to his horse. As soon as the gate lifted we rode out quickly. As we looked around, there was nothing but fields of grass and flowers. A few trees here and there. We keep riding in hope we see something else, something new, something exciting. Nothing.

Levi's POV

Come on...there's gotta be something! Something!
I look left and right, seeing nothing but miles and miles of grass. As I looked up, I see two white doves, criss crossing as they fly in front of us. I start to follow them quickly, keeping up closely. We rode higher and higher up a hill, finally reaching the top until we come to a sudden halt due to it ending on a sloping cliff. I stared as the birds flew away towards the horizon. We stared off the cliff, seeing a dark blue body of water. I looked down over the edge of the cliff, seeing a large strip of sand, filled with colorful rocks and shell like things.
We jumped off our horses, feeling the wind brush past us.
"We're here.....we made it..."
Armin walked to the front, and suddenly slid down the sloped cliff, reaching the bottom.
I stared down at all the dirt.
'I can't believe I'm about to do this...'
As I grabbed Eren's hand, I pulled him with me, sliding down the slope. We reached the sandy bottom, where Armin had his shoes off and his pants rolled up.
"We finally did it Eren! Our dream!"
He looks back at us with a bright smile on his face.
I looked down at my shoes, slowly taking them off and setting them aside.
Eren was already doing the same as Armin, rolling up his pants as well. I do the same, throwing my dress coat off. Staring off at the ocean, the others go splashing in it.
"We're finally free...right Levi?"
"We are..."
I look at him, and he looks at me. I stare into his eyes as he stares into mine. A small gust of wind blows past us as I lean up and kiss him softly, slightly closing my eyes. As I part, he interlocks his hand with mine. We look back at the horizon, watching the sun set into the ocean. The water shimmers and twinkles, changing its color to a mix of blue and green. The sky turns to a pink and orange hue and the clouds turn into a light pink and blue.
"It's beautiful...isn't it.."
"It is."
I grip his hand tighter, watching the sunset.
"I love you."
"..I love you too.."

The two doves circle above them, flying higher into the sky. The others continue splashing in the ocean like there's no tomorrow. Levi and Eren stand in the sand, hand in hand, happy knowing that they're finally free. Free from work. Free from fighting. Free from titans, for now.
The camera pans out, showing the entire view, until slowly fading into black.
