Frank came downstairs with a notebook and a pen. Stella wrote down information about humans. Frank always stood at the deck. He'd watch the fish. He'd hoped to spot a mermaid. Stella was falling asleep. Frank came to check on her. He didn't wanna wake her up. He went to his dad.

They were having dinner. The brightest star came out. It shined almost brighter than the sun. Some say the star was magical. It probably was. Something strange was happening. Stella's tale wiggled. She woke up. Her tale glowed. Then it disappeared. Replacing it with legs. Stella screamed. She kicked the cage. She noticed the keys were a couple feet away from the cage. Stella could barely reach the keys. Luckily her nails were long enough to touch the keys. There were multiple keys. She tried every key. They key that worked was the last key she tried. It was really small. It was hard for her to stand up straight. Her legs were weak. She ran up to the deck. She looked back. Stella closed her eyes. She couldn't wait to see her family. Frank was standing behind her.

"Yeah. Just leave me. After all the fun we had." said Frank.

"Frank, I'm sorry." said Stella.

"Naw, it's okay. You wanted to go home. Your wish is my command. You wanted to be free." said Frank.

He went back to the party. Stella looked down at the water. Now was her only chance to get back home. But she knew Frank would be heartbroken. Besides, of she jumped, she wouldn't know where to go. What would her mother say about her legs? She got down. She tried to get pass the crowd. Frank was standing by the captain. Stella kept shouting his name. Frank finally heard her. So did the captain.

"Is someone calling you?" said the captain.

Frank went to look for Stella. Stella fell to the floor. Everyone kept stomping on her. Frank found her. Stella stood up. She had trouble using her legs. She fell into his arms.

"Are you okay? I thought you were leaving." said Frank.

"I changed my mind. I didn't know where to go. I'm lost. We had a bond. I didn't wanna ruin our friendship. I might never see you again." said Stella.

They left the party. "Stella, you begged to get out the cage. Why would you turn around. I would've been fine without you. I don't wanna be the reason why you're separated from your family." said Frank.

"You're not the reason. I still wanna study human life." said Stella.

Frank looked down. "I see you've turned into a human. How did you get legs?" said Frank.

"I don't know. I woke up with legs." said Stella.

Frank carried her to the deck. They looked at the stars.

"Remember when I gave you all those photos of the stars. You get to see them in person." said Frank.

There was a shooting star. Stella made a wish. The brightest star shined brighter. Frank wrapped his arms around her. "I think I understand the real reason why you came crawling back." said Frank.

"Since you're so smart, why did I come back?" said Stella.

Frank kissed her. Stella jumped in his arms. Their kiss lasted most of the night.
