Chapter 12 - Derek

After a few minutes, I had traveled all the way to the lake and looked around the surface. The water had an unpleasant greenish color, and I wondered how people could bathe in it. Who knows how many dead things were inside. I sat on the shore and at some point must have dozed off  because I woke stiff and it was twilight. Suddenly there was a voice behind me.

"Hello Di, I knew you would not forget me. "- me and my damned  luck. Of about 100 people in the house, of whom 90 drunks she was still gunning for me, figures. I preyed to Gods and Demons just to spear me this one time. After a  moment ( more like eternity), as if from nowhere appeared a girl. She was in no more than 17 with live bright and playful eyes and an incredible smile. Her black long hair was tied to a careless bun. And her clothes were a perfect example of a Gothic style with a little a dose of rock.

"That's where you were." - I heard him say in a melodic voice, and then she wrapped her hands around my  neck. Huh ,she was hanging on my neck like a koala bear, what the hell, I did not even know her, she was definitely not from our school.

"Just pretend you know me ..." I heard her whisper. "You said you would not leave me alone anymore. And who are you ?" She directed the last question at Tanya.

Tanya's gaze was amazed and angry. She was seizing the poor girl up and down and getting ready to pounce like the blood hound she was.

" Tanya, it's nice to meet you.- the wicked witch purred predatory. " Why don't I know about your little girlfriend, Di? - uffff  banging she had emphasized on  little, by tomorrow everyone would think I am a pedophile.

"I'm his girlfriend, Carol, it's nice to meet you too."  I felt my little girlfriend voice cool down a few degrees, but she kept the smile on her face. "I heard that Die has dumped your bitch ass because there is no bigger whore in the school than you." Tanya's mouth opened wide in amazement, and inferno burned in her eyes. It was in that moment that Carol had to stop otherwise she would have a very unpleasant night, but instead she bent down and whispered something in Tanya's ear. For the first time, I saw Tanya afraid, in seconds the flames had turned into a storm and her mouth was tight in a thin line. Whatever the girl had said to her was clearly not pleasant, and worse was true since no retort was fired back.

"I think they're looking for you at the party." Carol smiled smugly.

"I think I have to go." I watched amazed. Carol had just overcome Tanya's harp in front of my eyes. Curiosity burned me up what that girl might know about Tanya, and why she helped me. Not to mention it was definitely not from our school, what the hell happened to God.

"That was interesting." - the only thing I could think of, yeah i am smart like this, don't swoon over me just yet ladies.  I knew i was freaking out if i was sarcastically talking to my self.

"Now we can meet you officially, I'm Carol. Carol Chase."

"How did you know my name?"

"Well, she called you Di, I just used it. "she answered. My question has  sounded more like an accusation. It wasn't like she was a witch and could read my thoughts. Maybe I was crazy, I was almost sure I was crazy and needed a time out in a corner rocking my way to a insane asylum. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't want to sound like that." - i said feeling ashamed.

" No problem."

"So what brings you here, you are definitely not from our school, and I do not believe you are in your last year ? Sorry to say but you look a little bit younger."

" Hmm, good question." she spoke as she sat down on a fallen tree.

I expected the sentence to be continued, but after a few seconds passed it obviously would not be.

" Yeah... and... "I prompted her.

"Yeah "what", I said was a good question, not that I would answer. Do not walk around the forest or near wells." She said suddenly. "And still i do not know your whole name."

"Derek, Di briefly, and what do you have in mind to tell me about the forest?" - Tonight could not get any stranger than that, pigs would have to fly, because i was in twilight zone.

" Nothing." Her eyes were on the horizon. "Just a month ago, it turned out that there are a bunch of dogs and they have rabies. It is not good to walk in the woods. Nothing more." Carol jumped to her feet " And now I think it's time to go."

"Wait a minute. What did you say to Tanya, and why are you here and not the dog bullshit? "

"Tanya will not harass you anymore, and I just came to warn you about the forest, I live nearby. Nothing more. I figured I'd have to tell someone and happened to see you.

Yes, and i was the genie of the lamp. I was getting too paranoid, but something told me there were a lot of things this girl knew.

"I hope you get a good night tonight." Bye Bye  she started walking fast.

"Wait." I cried, but it was too late, Carol had already been on her way.
