I opened the entrance door, from my sister's room light Gothic metal was humming. I had fulfilled the task she had given me and now I could enjoy my chilled dinner at the computer watching Death Note. Japanese anime and manga have always been my weakness, cliche since i was half -Asian but i loved it anyway. I was envying the people that were living in a much more fantastic world than ours. The only way to get closer to this world was through the visions, but the oracles did not get visions so often, we could not interfere with illusions like the chosen, seeing them yes, but as in haze. My last vision had shown me the two Chosen ones in a very intimate conversation. It was like a Spanish soap opera and a bad one at that. Did that girl really not realize that the Chosen one, had feelings for her or was she blind, I shook my head like that will rid me of the images. What the fuggin, they were so irresponsible. Instead of dealing with teenage drama they they should focus and save the world. God, what a mess. I wonder what my sister thought about the matter. I took plate of food in one hand and a bottle of juice in the other and climbed the stairs. I went into my room and left the food on my bed. I had to report to my sister about what I said to that boy. What was his name, yes - Derek. What was his deal, was he special or something. There was music still coming from her room, so she would not even hear me knock. I opened a door and found her sitting and staring at the computer. Apparently she had fallen into a trance again. After a second her eyes with the same grey color met with mine.
"I told you to keep him from walking in the woods!" My sister yelled. "Couldn't you have done at least that right?"
"What is the problem? You didn't even tell me why he is so special, you just ran me out of my house and told me to keep him from going into the woods. I had to go around the entire shore until I found it. Not to mention that the harpy really was glued to him. How did you know what to tell her to get her away." - I did not expect to answer. She never answered how she knew certain things, but I was used to it. So I just jumped on the bed and folded my legs.
"He almost die, moron." - Maybe she was still furious.
"He would not have died, if he'd listened to me. And almost is the magical word." i started twirling my hair between my fingers.
Rabid dogs, hmm ? So who in their right mind would listen to you?!? Since he also had to know what would happen if he got into the woods, this was not entirely your fault ... "the last was more comfort for her than for me it seemed.
"And how do you know about the dogs?" "Ughhh forget it is not like you're going to tell. So what's so special about that guy?"
"Nothing, nothing special," I was sure, she lied. She didn't stop wrapping a cluster of black hair around his index finger, that was her tell since we were young. She was doing the same thing when bluffing at poker. And i had a similar tick with playing with my hair when nervous.
"I just don't believed you. Now the truth."- i said smugly.
"You know I can't always tell everything, or else I will change the course of the future." She snapped.
" Yes, yes, I know. "- once when we were young, she had seen an old woman being push under a moving car because a mischievous gnome wanted to play. Silvana, that's my sister's name, had spoken to the woman deliberately to save her from this fate, but you can not play with fate. Instead of the woman stumbling a young woman holding her little child's hand did. They both died. Since then, Silvana has been careful with what she's saying and changing. Although I wonder if she has seen this future, but she has decided that another of the alternatives will happen.
"Is he okay?"
"Yes and not thanks to you. Well for good or bad, he has a idiot friend who apparently often changes his opinions and decisions."
A small change in the past can seriously confuse the plans of fate for the future just as in the movie the Butterfly effect. Sister, according to my mother, is the strongest oracle born in 1000 years. These oracles are called The Seer. She was accustomed to the constant headaches and nausea, and was leading a normal life ( as normal ones life can be seeing strange things and the future that is). She was often joking that at least it was not like seeing the fate of all humans, but only of those who are somehow connected to the magical world. Some nights I woke up from her screaming. It was easy to block the thoughts of murders and rape by the forged (as i called the illusions), but in the night when she was sleeping her subconscious opened. I'm sure she was staring at hundreds of terrifying things. Most of the undisclosed murders and rapes were the work of strong illusions born of the distorted minds of mankind. I was looking at my sister staring in space mindlessly a 1000 things happening in her head and I could not help but feel relieved that I was not in her place, but on the other hand, bitterly, I knew that her abilities were better than mine. I got up from the bed and approached her.
"Silvana, do you see my and your's destiny?" You know if I will win the lottery, which multi-billionaire will fall in love with me, when will I die?" - i was all kinds of curious.
"Let me tell you this, you are born to have great adventures, my little Utau. And when you die, you will know the time has come. "- it was not fair I wanted to know, she could have told me some things, so i did the thing every respectable teen would do i pouted my ass off.
