Chapter 8

I woke up to the sound of foot step and the pungent smell of blood. I sat up quickly and saw that it was just my mate, Jackson. "Hey, love. I tried not to wake you. Go back to sleep" he wispered. I sluggishly got out of bed and walked to him. In human form we don't have all of our abilities. My sense of smell is way better than a humans but not as strong as it would be in wolf form. Same with my strength, stamina, etc. This is why I could smell the blood but wasn't able to identify who it was from. "Are you ok?" I asked in a worried voice, "I smell a lot of blood". He chuckled "it's not my blood, baby. I had to take care of the sons of bitches that hurt my mate." Although it did flatter me, I was a little concerned. Did he actually kill someone over me? Part of me liked it and part of me was a little scared. I just nodded. "I'm going to go get cleaned up. Go lay back down" he said kissing the top of my head and gently pushing me back to the bed. He smacked my butt when I was faced away from him and it made me blush. I got back into bed and watched him go into the bathroom. Once again I was too tired to stay awake so I let myself drift off to sleep. I didn't wake up again until the morning.

I woke up to see the beautiful sleeping man beside me but I learned my lesson last time and didn't stare. My neck was sore this morning. I brought my hand out to the bandages and felt that I had bled through them in the night. I checked the bed and didn't see any red stains. I was relived. I got up as quietly as I could and went into the bathroom. The cold air sent cold chills down my spine. I started a hot shower and undressed. I removed the bandages and got in the shower. The hot water burned but it felt amazing. I cleaned the dried up blood from the skin surrounding the two puncture holes and then cleaned the wounds themselves. It burned but I knew I couldn't let it get infected.
