chapter 11

I was fast asleep when I heard it. Someone busted through our door. Jackson jumped up and slammed the intruder against the wall.

"Jackson, it's just me" Cane gasped. Jackson let go instantly. "What the hell are you doing?" Jackson asked. He was very aggravated, but so was I. I was still half asleep but I listened as intently as I could.

"The vampires. They're here" Cane informed "we're under attack". Jackson turned to me quickly. "Stay here. Do not leave this room do you understand me? I have to go help but I will be back" he rushed over and kissed my head. I nodded and the two rushed out. I got up and shut the door. My heart pounded in my chest. I hope Jackson will be ok. If he dies, I'll know it. It's part of our bond. If he is killed, I will feel an intense pain. It causes most to take their own lives because after the physical pain comes the emotional pain.

I heard foot steps coming down the hall and I locked the door quickly. The person knocked on the door then cried out for help. I opened the door quickly and one of the house maids rushed in, holding her stomach with blood covered hands. "What happened?" I asked as I led her to the bed "are you ok?". She winced as she sat down. "They stabbed me" she groaned. The wound should heal quickly since she is a wolf but if it goes untreated, she could die before it heals.

I ran into the bathroom and grabbed a towl, I ripped it in half and tied it around her to stop the blood. Her face was pale and she was sweating. Her eyes looked dim and I could tell we didn't have long. "Stay right here, I'm going to go find the nurse. If anything happens, there is a window in the bathroom that you can escape out of" I told her as I put my shoes on. I was currently in my pajamas but I didn't have time to get dressed now.

She shook her head and looked terrified "ma'am it isn't safe out there. We need our future luna to be safe" she cried. "As luna, it is my job to help this pack and all of the members" I said as I walked to the door "now don't make a sound when I leave" I whispered as I walked out.

I shut the door behind me and headed down the hallway. The nurse was on the other side of the pack house. I heard a lot going on but most of it was down stairs and outside. I carefully made it to her room. I opened the door but her room was empty. I walked in a bit but the door shut behind me. I turned quickly but all I could make out was a dark shadow coming towards me. Everything went black.
