The next day, Jade woke up feeling very tired. She and her parents hadn't gone back home till midnight. She could hardly remember anything that had happened. What she could remember was the night ending with a pair of lips pressed against hers....
She groaned in annoyance when her alarm went off, making her aware that she needed to wake up to get ready for school. She sat up and stretched in her bed after turning her alarm off. She got out of bed and took a shower first before finding something to wear and changing. She then did her usual makeup while she listened to her main playlist on her phone. It was filled with all types of music. Jade wasn't very picky considering her parents had a passion for music as well. Lately she's been really into Billie Eilish. She listened along to Billie's song come out and play as she finished getting ready and gathered her school supplies. Once she was done, she stopped her music, put her phone into her pocket, grabbed her backpack and headed downstairs to go eat breakfast. Her mom was already awake, making her a grilled cheese sandwich. "Hey, are you feeling well? We came back kind of late last night" her mom told her as Jade sat down at the counter and watched her cook. "Yeah, I'm ok. Just a bit tired. I need some coffee" she admitted. "I'm already on it" her mom said, motioning to the coffee machine. Jade smiled and thanked her. Her mom served her breakfast as her father began to wake up and get ready to go to work. "No breakfast hun??" her mom asked him. "Nah, I'll get starbucks on my way over. I have to go to a meeting. I'll see you guys later" he said as he put on his shoes and kissed both of them goodbye on the cheek. They waved to him as he left and Jade finished her breakfast. "Ready to go?" her mom asked. Jade nodded. Her mom grabbed her car keys and Jade followed her out.
At school, Jade walked to her locker to grab her books before heading to her first class. Colby approached her as she was putting her books into her bag. She looked up and her eyes met with his crystal blue ones. "Hey, sorry I haven't answered any of your texts. I woke up kind of late this morning" Jade said as she closed her locker. "It's ok... Do you remember what happened last night?" Colby asked as they walked to class together. Before Jade could answer, Mia called after her. They both looked back to see Mia running after them. "Hey! Why haven't you answered any of my texts?" Mia asked as she joined them. "Sorry, I haven't really checked my phone... I have to get to class" Jade said. Colby and Mia finally left her alone.
The rest of her day felt really weird. Who had she kissed the night before? She could remember it so vividly... After school, she walked back to her locker to return her books when Mia approached her again. Jade had been dodging her and Colby all day. "Hey, are you ok? You've been avoiding Colby and I all day..." Mia said, kind of upset. Jade sighed and looked over at her. "What happened last night?... Was I drunk?" Jade asked her. "Of course not... Look, I hardly remember what happened last night as well. What do remember is catching both you and Colby kissing outside..." Mia told her. Jade froze. So she had remembered correctly... She closed her locker as she saw Colby coming up to them. "I gotta go, my mom is waiting outside" Jade quickly said, excusing herself. She felt weird...
When she got home, she tried to sit down and think things over again. What exactly happened last night??? Jade hadn't been able to remember anything from after she had watched her parents dance... "You ok Jade?" her mom asked, interrupting her thoughts. She had come into her room to give her snacks. "Hey, thanks... I was just thinking to myself. I hardly remember any of the party last night" Jade admitted. Her mother sighed and set down the snacks on her study desk before sitting next to her. "You hardly remember because... you were drunk" her mother explained. Jade looked at her in complete and utter shock. "How??? I don't remember... drinking" Jade said as she thought back. "Yeah well, you did Jade and I had to hide it from your father..." Jade's mother explained. Jade sighed and looked down at her hands, feeling ashamed. "I'm sorry you had to lie to him... I really don't remember drinking. You know I don't like that stuff. It's completely against everything you and dad have taught me" Jade said. Her mom took her hands into her own and made her look up so she could see her. "Jade, you are an adult now, it's your choice on what you wanna do with your life. I'm happy to hear that you weren't trying to intentionally go against our wishes for you but if you hadn't chosen to drink last night, had anyone else been there that maybe could have spiked your drink or something?? I'm not lying to you when I say we found you completely drunk outside. We wouldn't have found you if Mia hadn't been keeping an eye on you" Jade's mother explained. Jade thought to herself. Colby couldn't have done it... Right?? Now that she thought about it, Jake had returned the second time with their drinks.... "I don't know" Jade lied to her mom. She didn't want to disappoint her. "Ok well... let's just forget about it... So how's school? Isn't prom coming up soon?" her mother asked. Jade nodded. "I don't think I'm going though" she told her mom. "What?? Why??" her mom asked. "Because dances aren't really my thing, especially school dances" Jade said. "Oh, cmon! Saffron is going! She offered to take you dress shopping with her" Jade's mother said. Jade sighed and thought about it. "I'll think about it and get back to you. By the way, some friends asked if I could hang with them this weekend, is that ok?" Jade asked. "What are you guys doing?" her mom asked. "They're just filming a youtube video. I'll be back before 10pm, I promise" Jade told her. "Ok well, it's fine with me but you know you're gonna have to ask your dad" her mom said. Jade sighed and nodded. "Ok well, I gotta get back to editing videos, I'll make dinner in a bit" Jade's mom said. She nodded in approval and hugged her mom before she left her room. Jade sighed as she sat back in her chair and thought about what exactly happened last night... She decided to call Colby. She needed him to explain what he remembered...
