Shuichi's POV
We finally reached our destination. I was surprised to see that the area did look more pretty with the moonlight glimmering over the still plants. I followed Kaede as she sat on a bench. I sat with her, trying not to be too close to her, but not trying to be too far away to slightly feel her body heat.
"Wow.. it's more beautiful here at night, for sure," She said smiling as she looked around before looking at the sky. I continued to look at her, her lips curved in a cute, innocent grin. And her eyes glittering, the reflection of the moon and stars shining in her sweet, purple eyes. Her light blonde hair gleaming, looking softer than anything else I had ever seen. I just wanted to reach out and touch her, but I knew it was wrong. Before I could turn away, she looked at me happily.
"Yeah, it is more beautiful at night..." I said. The next words were on the tip of my tongue. I wanted to say them so badly but my mouth wouldn't move. I finally forced the words out, but they only came out as a gentle whisper.
"But I see something more beautiful."
Kaede's POV
My eyes widened and blush appeared across my face. He blushed too, tipping his hat down. "Sorry I-I shouldn't have said that," He said immediately. I was still in shock I could barely move, but I was happy. He felt the same way as me. A soft grin moved onto my face and I reached out and grabbed his hand with mine. He slowly looked up at me, almost as if he was scared to do so. He finally met my gaze and my grip on his hand tightened.
"Shuichi," I said as I became ever so slightly closer to him. I think he noticed anyway though. "Thank you," Is all I could say. I turned my eyes to his hat and took it off gently with my free hand, revealing the rest of his hair. I wrapped my other hand around his neck, still holding the hat. I chuckled to myself before saying softly, "You do look more handsome without a hat.
I stared into Shuichi's eyes before he leaned in and my breath was taken away. His soft lips met mine as my eyes widened at first, but quickly closed as I took in the moment and the taste of him on my lips. My stomach fluttered and my heart pounded as continued to kiss him back gently. My grip around his neck tightened and he grew closer to me. He let go of my hand and wrapped his hands around me instead as I slid my other hand around his neck.
After some precious moments, he broke the kiss. I stared back at his handsome, perfect face.
"Kaede, I.." His voice trailed off as I focused on his voice saying my name, sending chills running down my spine. "I.. I really like you, Kaede,"
Shuichi's POV
I felt her kiss back. She must like me back, right? I still can't believe it, everything worked out so well! The girl of my dreams sitting right across from me, I just prayed I hadn't blown it. But all of my worries fell and were crushed as I felt her soft fingers on my chin. She carefully tilted my chin up and I let her. I met her gaze as our faces were perfectly parallel to each other.
"Shuichi.. I really like you too," She said, her voice as gentle as the wind in spring. Before I could say anything, she leaned in and pressed her lips gently to mine. The kiss only lasted a few seconds as she then pulled apart our lips and gazed into my eyes. Our foreheads began to touch and soon enough our foreheads were pressed together as we sat in a relaxed silence, just enjoying each other's company. I could hear her breathing, as I was sure she heard mine too. But I didn't care, because this moment was perfect. We sat there for a little while, before she pulled away.
She yawned quietly as I saw that a vale of tiredness covered her eyes. I smiled. "You look tired, Kaede. Maybe we should go to bed," I said in a whisper, still not disturbing the sweet silence in the air. She nodded after her yawn.
"Yeah.. you're probably right," She said and I stood up. She watched me stand and before she could too, I reached out a hand to her. She smiled happily and grabbed it. She stood up and we began going back to our dorms in silence. We didn't say anything to each other, and all we could hear was the sound of our shoes hitting the ground.
After a while of pleasant silence we reached her dorm room. She unlocked her door and stepped inside. She turned toward me and smiled. "Goodnight, Shuichi," She said softly.
I smiled back at her, gazing into her eyes. "Goodnight, Kaede," She then carefully closed the door, leaving me at the foot of her dorm. I then walked back to my dorm quietly. I plopped in bed and smiled contently. This is the start of something beautiful between us.
