The Search

Part 1

        Lauren Suarez is a 21 year old Cuban American. She is a student at a community college in Florida. She dresses like a hipster. She always wears fake nerd glasses and beanies. Her eye color changes depending on the season.

          In the Student Union, she was sitting on a comfy chair and studying while drinking coffee. Kim, her friend, came in and approached Lauren.

Kim Hunter is also 21 years old. She is Korean American and she has long beautiful locks. Kim is considered to be a social butterfly. Her only weakness is that she instantly falls in love with almost every cute guy she sees or meets.

Kim greets Lauren, “Annyeong!”

“Hi, babe!” Lauren responded.

“Where is your boy toy?” Kim asked. “I thought you have a study date today. But all I see here is study and no date.” She added.

“He cancelled on me. He said he was busy.” Lauren explained.

Kim could not believe that Lauren’s boyfriend did that. “Then why did he agree to a study date if he knows he’s busy this day?” she asked.

Lauren is focused on studying. “I don’t know, I don’t want to talk about it, okay?” she said.

“Okay, grumpy!” Kim replied.

“I’m sorry. I’m just so nervous about this exam. I don’t understand anything!” Lauren exclaimed.

“You need to chill, ayt?” Kim said.

“I can’t chill. I won’t chill. I need to cram! That’s what I need to do.” Lauren answered.

Kim closed Lauren’s books. Lauren is shocked by Kim’s actions. “What are you doing?!” she asked angrily.

Lauren tried to re-open her books but Kim just closes them again. Lauren is growing impatient with what Kim was doing.

“Relax!” Kim insisted. “Come with me.” She demanded.

Kim stood up and pulled Lauren up. Lauren picked up all of her books and put it inside her bag. She strapped on her backpack and they both went out the Student Union.

Kim kept dragging Lauren until they reached the park found in the middle of campus grounds.

“You need some fresh air to relax.” Kim stated. “Take it all in.” she added.

Lauren closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths.

“You’re right. This is relaxing.” Lauren said as she opened her eyes.

“Well I hate to say ‘I told you so.’” Kim said.

Then a cute boy caught Kim’s attention. Tyler Carter, 21. Tyler is in one or two of Kim’s classes. He has a medium built body and always wears glasses but still makes them look cool. Tyler jogs by Lauren and Kim and gives a friendly smile. Kim grabs Lauren’s arm and start shaking her uncontrollably.

“Oh my god! That’s the cute guy in my class! I talked to him and he’s so nice and sweet. I love him!” Kim said very excitingly.

“You love him?” Lauren asked. “What about the other guy that’s in all your classes? Are you over him already?” she added.

“Oh, him? I love him too!” Kim said.

“You can’t love two people at the same time. You have to choose.” Lauren remarked.

“Why are you doing this to me?” Kim asked. “You’re mean! I can’t just choose!” she exclaimed.

Lauren giggled. The sight of Kim having trouble deciding between two boys gives Lauren joy. Lauren then looked to her right and saw her boyfriend sitting on the grass and making out with some girl, who is obviously not her. Her smile quickly faded.
