Today is Lauren’s birthday! Hooray!
Lauren is at a lecture hall. Class is about to end.
“You may go. Don’t forget the essay is due on Tuesday. Have a good weekend everyone.” the professor said.
All the students except Lauren race to the door. Lauren feels her phone vibrating. Logan is calling her.
“Hi there, birthday girl! There’s a special surprise waiting for you by the door. Go take a look.” Logan said.
Lauren reaches the door and sees Gwendolyn and Bianca holding a huge birthday card and some confetti poppers. The cover says “Happy birthday, Lauren!” Lauren opens the card. Inside, it says “See you at Retro Bistro at 7. (Wear something nice)”.
Lauren goes back to her dorm room to get ready.
“Uh, Lo. I think there’s something under your pillow.” Ally stated.
Lauren lifts her pillow and sees a box with a note attached to it. It read, “I’m not stressed nor depressed. I’m not high or drunk either. But that was a great policy, my princess. We need more of those policies, your highness.” She opens the box and sees a tiara.
“Am I supposed to wear this tonight?” she asked.
Ally nodded and said, “Uh-huh”
“You’re a part of this?” Lauren asked.
“Guilty as charged.” Ally replied.
“What else is in store for me this evening?” Lauren asked.
“You wouldn’t want me to ruin the surprise, would you?” Ally said.
“Fine. At least help me put this tiara on.” Lauren said.
After Ally put the tiara on Lauren, they both head to the Retro Bistro for Lauren’s surprise.
As soon as they arrive, everyone immediately sang ‘Happy birthday’ to Lauren. Logan escorted her to her throne. Tyler comes in with her birthday cake.
“Make a wish.” Logan said.
Lauren closes her eyes and blows out the candles. Everyone claps and cheers. Frank Sinatra’s ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ starts playing.
“Care to dance?” Logan offered.
Lauren smiles and gives her hand to Logan. The two goes to the dance floor and danced like how newlyweds dance.
“You did this all for me?” Lauren asked Logan.
“Yeah, with some help from your friends, of course.” Logan replied.
“Why?” she asked.
“You were there for me when my dad was, you know, and I thought a girl as nice as you deserves to be treated like royalty. People should worship the ground you walk on.” He explained.
Lauren smiles and rests her head on Logan’s chest.
“Happy birthday, my princess!” he said.
Lauren looks up and looks at Logan’s lips. Lauren kisses Logan. Logan pulls away.
“Whoa!” he interjected.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” she said.
(Why did Logan pull away from the kiss? Doesn’t he like Lauren too? Did Lauren make a mistake in kissing Logan? Learn more about it in Part 12.)
