A/N: Get ready for a while bunch of weird.
The only sounds around me were the gentle turning of the pages of old books and the gentle breathing of the handful of scholars around me. I sighed and slammed my face against the desk in front of me. A guy with a face that startlingly resembled an old potato shot me a glare across the library. I waved back, sticking out my tongue, and earning another glare.
It was my English teacher's fault, really. He shouldn't have stuck me in a library full of a bunch of old farts and expected me to study freaking Shakespeare! I mean seriously, so what if I needed the extra credit to graduate high school?
"Romeo, blah blah blah, oh Juliet!" I mumbled under my breath, trying to figure out a way to get out of reading this old book. I saw a perfect distraction leaning against a bookcase a few rows away. I closed the book quickly, and a huge cloud of dust exploded into my face. I collapsed against the desk, coughing theatrically, and grinned to myself as I saw the girl in the corner shoot me a small smile. Gnarly!
I started walking over, trying to look casual. I ran my hands over the spines of books as I passed them. My finger snagged a cover, and a paperback flew off the shelf, hitting a nearby old geezer in the back of the head. The man whipped around with surprising agility, grey hair flying, and waved his walking stick at me. I heard him mutter "kids these days" to himself as he turned back to his book.
I continued my walk, avoiding those old books at all costs. Eventually, I reached the beginning of the isle where the girl had been standing. I peered around the corner, hoping to catch a glimpse of her curly blond hair.
She was gone. I turned back around to look around the library and came face to face with the girl. I took a step back in surprise and started trying to talk to her. "Hey, my na-"
Her eyes widened and she turned tail and started running, the tail of her white dress flowing behind her.
"Hey! Wait a second!" I yelled, but she was already gone. The librarian shot me a weird look, and I just flipped my imaginary hair over my shoulder and strutted back towards my seat, thankfully avoiding assaulting any old people this time.
Man, this is why I don't talk to girls! Man, what even happened? Was there something on my face? I flipped my phone out and turned the camera towards myself, admiring my short brown hair and completely clear face. Nope, still flawless. There was nothing there that could scare a person that bad.
As I continued admiring myself in the front-facing camera, my phone started ringing, blasting my ringtone across the previously silent library.
"I'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world, life in plastic, it's fantastic!"
"Hey mom!" I yelled into the phone, hopping up from my seat and chucking Romeo and Juliet at a wall.
"Hey sweetiecakes, get any studying done?" she asked.
"Yeah!" I replied. "A ton!" I blew the librarian a kiss as I walked out the door, and she turned her nose up at me, looking back down at her dictionary or whatever she was looking at.
"Good, pumpkindrop, glad to hear it!"
We talked for a bit as I walked down the sidewalk, jumping over all the cracks.
I hung up as I got closer to home, and skipped inside, running straight to the kitchen. "Food, food, food, food, fooooooood!" I chanted to myself as I hunted through the fridge. Cookies! I thought, grabbing them, not even wondering why they were in the fridge.
My sister, Bella, walked into the kitchen.
"Ooooh, cookies!" she screeched. "Can I have one?"
"Nope," I replied, stuffing my face.
"Come on!" she yelled, jumping up to try to reach the cookies that I had stretched above my head.
Eventually, she got fed up and smacked me in the arm.
"Ow!" I screeched, "You bi-iiiig beautiful sister of mine" I cut off as my mom walked in the door, long brown hair blowing in its own wind.
"Aweeee, darlingpie, you're so sweet to your sister!" she pinched my cheek and I scowled.
"Bu-" I cut Bella off with an icy glare that had her scurrying back to her room.
