Hunter placed his hands on my sides and began tickling me. I screamed and continued to attempt to get out of his grasp. When he was done, he grabbed my hand and dragged me through the packhouse.

"Where are we going?", I asked him but he continued walking forward.

I think he was mind linking someone because he had a blank expression on his face. We continued our journey through the packhouse all the way to our room. Hunter threw me on his bed and I rolled on my side. The next thing I felt was his hand hitting my butt.

I sat up, feeling the sting on my butt. I turned to get up and Hunter pushed me back down.

"Stay", he said, pointing at me.

I got up again," Why?"

Hunter grabbed my wrist, "Because you'll ruin your surprise."

He pushed me down, once again, on the bed. I crossed my arms over my chest. I hated surprises. I always think someone is gonna jump out and scare me.

I sat in silence until he opened the door. As he opened the door, Hunter walked in with Axe on his leash.

"Axe", I screamed, standing up.

He pulled on his leash when I stood up.

"Sit or he goes back outside", he says, threatening me.

I quickly sit back down and waited for him to bring Axe to me.

I pulled Axe close to me like I was never going to see him again. Hunter looked at me like I was crazy. He didn't understand why he was so important to me. He didn't understand how he had protected me through everything I had been through at my old pack.

Hunter tried to pry me off of Axe. Axe growled at him and he jumped back.

"Axe. He is my mate", I told him, trying to calm him down.

He calmed down a little but put his head on my lap for me to pet it. Hunter sat next to me, putting his arms around me. Axe had growled at him for touching me but he huffed and accepted it.

"Can we set some rules?", Hunter said, breaking the content silence.

I looked at him puzzled.

"It's for your safety, I promise", he said.

"Ok. What do you have in mind?", I asked, still confused.

Hunter grabbed my hand as he spoke, "Don't leave this room without me or my permission. Even if your wolf decides to walk out of this room, you have to deny it."

My wolf, Winter, was my best friend, besides Axe. She was dying to get out this building at the moment to run but she was still unfamiliar with her environment.

"What if she needs to run?", I asked. Hunter looked at me apologetically.

"If she does, just know, you can't go out by yourself. I need to be with you", Hunter said, his eyes staring at my hand.

"Anything else?", I asked.

He looked at me confused. I was ok with that one rule. It was like my old pack only I wasn't a child anymore. I was his mate and deserved to have one ground rule. I know Winter will want to break it but I will have to deny her of it. As you can tell, she's kind of a rebel.

"No", he said.

I smiled as I petted Axe. Winter was dying to run but I told her later. She's also very pissy.

"Hey, can we go for a run later? Winter is dying to get out", I asked him, as sweetly as I could.

He looked at me apologetically, again.

"I'm sorry. Winter will just have to wait. I have a couple of meetings tonight and I have a couple of other things this afternoon", he explained.

As I looked at my dog, the door opened as a little girl came bursting through. She stopped in front of the door when she saw me.

"Hey Bailey", Hunter said, waving her over to us.

She ran up to him and jumped on to his lap. "Who's she?", she asked, pointing at me.

I laughed, "My name is Brooklyn, but you can call me Brook if you want." She smiled and nodded her head. Brooklyn is sometimes hard for kids to pronounce so only kids call me Brook.

"Are you my brother's girlfriend?", she asked, innocently.

Hunter chuckled, "No. She's my mate."

She looked confused. I laughed at them.

"Where's mom?", he asked, playing with her hair.

Ash pushed his hand away, "She's downstairs, making me lunch."

He put her down on the floor, "Why don't you go help her?"

She squealed and ran out of the door.

"Speaking of you being my mate, I still haven't marked you", Hunter said, pulling me on to his lap. I squealed as my eyes widened.

"Will it hurt?", I asked, tears filling my eyes.

Hunter wiped the tears that had already fallen. "As much as I don't want to hurt you", he spoke with pure empathy in his voice, "it probably will. Do you know what a mark does?" I shook my head. My alpha never told me about mates, even though he taught me everything.

He moved the hair away from my neck. "It will put a scar right here", he said, touching the base of my neck, "which will happen when I bite you." The tears had fallen without my permission.

Hunter brought me close to his chest, "But only when you are ready." That made me smile.
