"Hey there, little wolf pup. I'm sorry I scared you", he said, pulling me onto his lap.
I shyly looked away from him. I hated being called little. I could take care of myself and fight for myself. Being called little just magnifies the fact that I am a small wolf. I was kinda mad at Hunter for being that way but I could never stay mad at him.
I looked at Hunter and kissed his cheek, trying to make him feel better. He looked at me and smiled. He kissed me, making me smile.
"So what's the deal with Axe?", he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well", I started, while I stood, "I had never really connected with any of the girls in my pack so my Alpha got Axe for me. He's only 2 years old but he's literally my best friend."
He stared at me like I was crazy. I scoffed, "Look. I was bullied by the girls because I was 'pretty'", I said, putting air quotes around the word pretty.
"And every boy wanted to date me and would try to date me. But I was too focused on my training to date at the age of 13. So I had my protector: Axe."
After telling my story, Hunter gave me this sympathetic look. He hugged me tighter and started playing with my hair.
"Well, for one thing, you are beautiful. Two, this doesn't change anything. He still stays outside until the weekend", Hunter says, his voice sounding cold.
"But that's in 3 days. I need him. And he needs me. I trained him since he was a pup", I said, getting away from him.
Hunter stood up and grabbed my hands, "Look. You disregarded the one rule I set for you."
I let Winter take control. She had a stronger connection to Axe anyways. And I could tell how pissed she was at them.
"But I need him", she growled. Her voice is deeper than mine. Not much deeper, but deep enough to hear a change.
She pulled my hands away from him and headed towards the door. Hunter quickly ran to block the door from her view.
"Where do you think you're going?", he asked, looking down at me.
I tried to push past him but he refused to budge. "Move", Winter growled, deeper this time.
He chuckled, "Do you not remember what we talked about earlier? If you leave my office, I will lock you up in our room."
Winter was pissed and, when Winter was pissed, there's no stopping her from her goal. She growled and tried getting around him again. Hunter grabbed me my waist and pulled me into his office chair.
"Winter. Give me my Brooklyn back", he said, in a hushed tone.
Winter wasn't giving up. I still felt my eyes glowing in Winter's electric blue. I fought for control with her, but she was a very persistent wolf. She growled again, as Hunter had pinned my arms to the arms of the chair.
He stared into my eyes, "Listen to me, Winter. You need to learn that you don't have to rely on Axe anymore. You have me."
It sounded like he had calm down from Winter's defiant actions. Winter finally gave me control again and she pouted that he had won. My eyes stopped glowing electric blue and resorted to their pale blue. I hadn't realized how much pressure Hunter was putting on my hands but it hurt.
"OW!", I said, pulling my hands out of his grasp. He took both my hands and kissed each of them.
He laughed, "I'm sorry, princess."
Hunter leaned down and kissed me. I could tell he had some remorse for what he said but I forgave him. He had a valid reason but I still wasn't happy that Axe wasn't by my side.
He pulled me up from his chair and sat in it. I sat in one of the other chairs in his office. I thought about what I could possibly do while in here. He pretty much worked in silence while I sat there, bored. Finally, Hunter looked up from his paperwork.
"You want to do something, don't you?", he said, putting his head in his hand.
I nodded. He pulled open one of the drawers and pulled out a sketchbook and some pencils. I don't know if he knew how much I love to draw. He stood up and handed me the art supplies.
"I would give you your phone but I don't trust you just yet", he said, motioning towards his desk.
I rolled my eyes and Hunter seemed unphased as he continued to do his work. He went back to work as I drew wolves, people, dogs, and random little doodles I could do. Hours went by before I started to get hungry. It had just dawned on me that I haven't had anything to eat all day.
My stomach growled loudly and Hunter laughed. He told me that he would finish up his work and then we'd go get some food. Winter kept whimpering cause she needed to run. I pushed her thoughts aside and decided it was too early for that anyway.
Hunter finally finished and we left his office. Most people stared at me, knowing what had happened. Some tried to talk to me, but, when I tried stopping, Hunter pulled me along. I didn't understand why they wouldn't let me talk to people.
Hunter took me up to our room while he mind linked someone. We rode the elevator to our floor and he lead me to our room. As Hunter shut the door, I flopped on to his bed. I curled myself into his blankets and he chuckled at me.
He leaned over me and kissed me. It was longer than usual. It was like he was apologizing for being so cruel. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me. He pulled away and I realized his wolf was in control.
"Hey", I said, "I haven't met you yet."
He smiled, "It's Isaac, sweetheart and good thing you haven't."
His voice was deeper and it was sexy. I kinda liked it.
"And why's that?", I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Because you would be in so much trouble right now."
The smile wiped off my face as fear replaced my happiness. He continued talking with this wide grin on his face. His tone was almost dominating.
"Winter was being a bad girl earlier. If Hunter gave me control, I would've chained you up here again."
I stuttered with trying to speak to Isaac. He was so much different than Hunter. It was odd.
"Can I have Hunter back, please? You're scaring me."
Hunter's eyes turned a pale green color and I knew he was back. I was more than happy to have him back. I kissed his cheek and he asked me if I was ok. I nodded and he climbed onto the bed. His Beta barged in and slammed the door.
"Hunter, we've got an issue."
