"What are you saying?" I hissed in a hushed whisper as we turned the corner. We stood, connected by handcuffs(Jack had put it on to make sure we don't get separated), right next to each other as we headed through the maze of hallways. By the look of it, we were heading towards the front of the ship. "Rima turned to the dark side?"

Jack nodded silently. "Yeah, he was ranting about how you will be the most powerful of them all or whatever. He's gone off the deep end. In fact, I'm positive that he was the one who killed my fake sister."

"You keep...not referring to her by name. Why?"

"Because..." Jack turned his gaze away. "I don't want to recognize her by her alibi, but I don't want to reveal her name either. It seemed, I don't know, disrespectful."

"How did she die?"

"Disfiguration. That's how I'm sure it's Rima. Azrael and Azeroth are evil, sure, but they aren't crazy. And since it's a hunting game, they would just take care of what they need to. Rima is having fun with this."

I gritted my teeth, but kept quiet.

"We have to get off this ship," Jack gave me a sidewise look. "But all of our escape routes are gone, so our best chance it to be somewhere where we can at least have a decent chance of escaping."

I nodded. "If we jump off the ship, we'll probably die, but it's sure a lot better than being here." And there was the fact that the others were coming as well, which made me a little more hopeful.

Jack grinned as he pushed open the door to the front deck. "Exactly."

It was a dark and cold day, with gloomy skies and harsh waves, which made me feel sick. We edged towards the front of the ship and looked over the edge.

The dark waves seemed to grab hungrily at us, making me shiver, then laugh bitterly to myself. Was I still afraid? After everything?

I touched the collar around my neck. "But what about our necklaces? Won't they kill us if we jump off?"

"Already taken care of," Jack grinned. "I'm not a detective for nothing. Last night, I broke the satellite, so don't worry. In fact," he grabbed his own and yanked it off before smashing it to the ground. I eagerly did the same.

We then, hand in hand, watched the grey sky together.

"You know," Jack squeezed my hand as he began to speak. "I'm just like you, an orphan, now."

"Really?" I asked. I was surprised to hear my own voice. It didn't waver or shake at all and remained strong. "What happened."

Jack suddenly turned to me. "They were killed in a fire when I was a small child." He told me. "And ever since that, I never really had anything. I always focused on being right, because I hated being unsure. And I only stuck to the facts, rather than feeling, but now," He suddenly grabbed my other hand. "I understand, and I mean truly understand, what it means to have feelings for someone again. So—"

"Jack!" A voice screamed. We both whirled to see Rima, who was pointing a pistol directly at us. "Get away from Amir, you filthy rag doll! Leave him alone!"

"H-hey!"

There was the sound of a gunfire, and suddenly it felt as if time stopped.

And I suddenly shoved my body against Jack's and sent us flying over the edge of the ship with him directly underneath me. I saw his eyes widen as blood splashed over him as we fell.

I hadn't even felt the impact of the bullet as it lodged itself into my head, and the only thing I thought of was of us being off the ship.

The world began to rapidly fade away into black, and I somehow had the image of Jack still in my mind.

I'm so sorry, Jack, the last thought began to slip away just as I thought it. But please...
