"Oh my god." Liam breathed out as he felt his eyes fill with tears. He lowered the phone down from his ear and aggressively tossed it at the wall, not caring if the screen was absolutely shattered the next time he picked it up.

He had just gotten a call from his sister and it was terrible news. His grandma had just passed away and he was absolutely devastated. He was all the way in LA with the boys right now and knew there was no way he could be there to help or support anyone.

He felt absolutely useless and broken inside. It was an extremely tragic thing and Liam couldn't stop his heart from feeling like it was about to shatter into a million pieces. He loved his grandma so much and although everyone in the family knew this was coming no one thought it would be this soon.

"Li?" Harry asked softly with a gentle knock on the door. Liam tried his best to pretend that he was fine so Harry wouldn't question it. He quickly wiped his tears with his sleeve and cleared his throat, taking a few deep breaths before responding. He hated being sad in front of the other boys and he definitely didn't want any sympathy from them right now.

It only made him more sad to hear everyone talk about how they're sorry and all that. He preferred to just lock himself away and never bring it up. It was the only way he'd manage to feel okay in the end but he knew this would take weeks of sobbing.

"Yeah?" Liam asked after a few silent moments but his voice was shaky. He knew Harry could probably tell something was up but he hoped Harry would just shake it off. He heard the doorknob wiggle slightly and was extremely relieved that the door was locked.

"Is everything okay?" Harry asked, sounding genuinely concerned and Liam felt the tears begin to flow again. He sniffled and dropped his head into his hands, trying to compose himself enough to form a sentence.

"Yeah, yeah." Liam muttered unconvincingly, his voice muffled by his hands. He began to silently sob and he knew he wouldn't be able to stop anytime soon. He was praying Harry would just walk away and forget any of this ever happened. He just wanted to be alone right now.

"Are you sure? I heard a crash." Harry asked and Liam frowned, remembering he had launched his phone at the wall. Liam was pretty prone to throwing things out of anger or sadness so this wasn't exactly a big deal. Harry was just way too nice and decided to make sure Liam was okay.

"I j-just dropped my phone." Liam stuttered, not fully able to speak right now. It wasn't exactly a lie, throwing a phone at rocket speed straight into a bedroom wall is totally the same thing as dropping it on the floor.

"Okay." Harry said, sounding a little suspicious. Liam let out a sigh of relief as he heard Harry's footsteps get further away from the door. He was happy he was finally alone and could sob in peace but he also knew he couldn't be too loud or else the boys would hear and be back knocking at his door, begging to be let in.

Liam purposely rolled off the bed and fell ungracefully onto the floor, not exactly knowing what to do in this situation. He just felt achy and filled with sadness. He didn't want to keep moping around all day but he didn't really have a choice.

He reached his arm up to the bed and grabbed a pillow, placing it on the floor in front of him before flopping his face down onto it, sobbing loudly, hoping it would muffle some of the sounds.

It's not that he was embarrassed about being sad. He definitely had a good reason to be. He just didn't like sympathy and it was the last thing he wanted only ten minutes after finding out his grandma had passed away.

The pillow was actually doing a pretty good muffling job and he was thankful since his sobs were now endless and he knew if he was sobbing this much out loud Harry would probably end up busting down Liam's bedroom door, thinking he had broken a bone or something.
