Twenty-First Century Girl in the Wizarding World [ON HIATUS]

Chapter Nine

>Alexis' POV< 

The principal turned then bent down to pick something up. She turned back, and in her hands sat the most magnificent crown, with all the intricate designs pearls and diamonds decorating the sides. 

"When your name is called, you will come up and this crown will be placed upon your head. There are 4 houses. Beauty. Brawn. Brains. and finally Brands. You will make your way to your house after the crown has told you, but before that you will announce the house you have been assigned. Now. Let the sorting BEGAN!" The principal said. 

She continued. " First, we have Alden, Amy." 

A short. blonde girl walked up and the crown was placed on her head. After a few silent moments, she passed the crown back to the principal . 

In a confident, loud voice, Amy announced " Beauty." and then made her way to her new house table. There was nothing to say there, Amy was really beautiful, her confidence level was high from what she said. 

Next thing we knew. " Brooks, Skylar." 

Sky scowled at her surname and walked to the front. The crown was placed on her head and almost immediately, she passed it back to the pricipal. 

She quickly said " Brawn" and left to join her table. 

Soon, Nita and Kita left to the Brawn table too. After a long wait, " Potter, Alexis." My name caused the soft chatter to cease. Puzzled, I shrugged and went up to the principal.

The principal placed the crown carefully on my head. I stood there with the crown on my head, whispers filled my head. 

"Smart. Confident. Pretty. Playful. Kind-hearted. Cunning. All is well. Dear, you are placed in Brawn" the whispers said. 

I raised my hands to take the crown off when the crown said in a loud voice, loud enough for the whole school to hear." BRAWN." 

The whole school gasped as it seems that this is the first time the crown ever said a girls' house out loud.

I lifted the crown off my head and passed it back to the principal. I quickly scrambled to the Brawn and joined Sky, Nita and Kita. I continue watching silently as the other students got sorted into their houses, not once more did the crown say another girls' house out loud. Only mine. 

After the sorting, the feast begin. I gave my surrounding one glance beofre digging in. but before I dug in, my eyes fell on Amy Alden and she sneered at me. I was taken aback but quickly regained my composure. I averted my attention back to dinner and quickly ate. The roast beef was just divine and the butterbeer better than any I have ever had, well besides the one at the Three Broomsticks at Hogsmeade. 

Speaking of Hogsmeade, my mind drifted to Dora and Remus, then slowly drifted to the boy with grey eyes and dirty blonde hair. 

I was quickly interrupted by the principal who introduced herself... FINALLY! Proffesor Beauté, yes that is the principal's name. She gave her speech and whatnot, which may I add, i quickly tuned out of. 

Finally we were told that we will now go to our house room to be sorted into our dormitory as we are having the Triwizard Tournament at Beauxbatons, so we have to prepare to room with someone else as arrangements have already been made. 

We followed the prefects all chattering away to the Brawn room, we went back to the Great Hall and climbed a flight of steps then stood on a platform where the prefect said the password : viguer, and the platform elevated and we got off on the fourth floor and we walked to the end of the corridor and where a statue stood and the prefect curtsied and the statue moved to reveal a door and we entered.  

The Brawn room was magnificent, it had a fire crackling in the fireplace and cushions and armchairs on the floor. The Brawn room was covered in sky blue, violet and gold. Sky blue being the schools colour, violet and gold obviously the house colour. 

The prefect said in a clear voice " This is your house room. Now I will tell you your rooms, you will be rooming with ONE fellow mate, there will be four beds two which will be occupied by others when they come for the Tournament."

Then she took out a piece of parchment and read off the parchment. 

Kita and Nita were placed together and I was place with Sky. Awesome or what.

We quickly race up the stairs, not really caring about the tutting the prefect voiced out. Sky and I jumped on the four poster bed and started laughing until our stomach hurt. 

"SHOTGUN ON THE BLACK BED!" Sky shouted. 

I groaned and saw that I was two beds away from the black bed and on a sky blue one. 

"I WANT THE SKY BLUE ONE!" I shouted.

Sky and I started laughing, then we started unpacking and preparing for tomorrow's lessons. I sat on the floor as I wrote a letter to Dora , Remus , Mom and Dad so they don't get worried. 

"AL!! WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR TOMORROW?" Sky asked. 

I stood up and strode to where Sky was standing, on her bed sat one tank top, one crop top, two shorts, two pair of wedges and one shirt. 

"Erm... You got a sundress?"

Sky nodded and dug in her bag for a pale blue sundress. 

"Sundress over shirt with the wedges?" I said. 

Sky hugged me, squealing. 

"WAIT!! Change the wedges this pair of flip flops." I said, picking up the pair of sky blur flip flop in her bag. 

"Al, you are a life saver. What are you going to wear?" She asked.

I went to my duffel bag and dug around and got out my black tank top, my skyblue over-size translucent shirt, black jeans and a pair of loafers from a muggle shop called "TOMS" .

"Ooh... Nice man. Let's sleep I'm getting sleepy. " She said before giving a big yawn.
