In 1997,

Airbus created two other variants of the A340. These aircraft were really long. These two aircraft were the Airbus A340-500 and the Airbus A340-600. These two aircraft are also three class configuration. The A340-500 can accommodate 293 passengers but the A340-600 can accommodate 326 passengers. The A340-600 was the longest passenger aircraft before 2010 when it got beaten by the Boeing 747-8.

The length of the Boeing 747-8 is 76.3 Meters. This is a 94 centimeter difference. The Boeing 747-8 is now the longest passenger jet as it beat another aircraft by Airbus which will come up later in this book.

Fun Fact: Though the A340-600 had 3-5 Hull losses it has never had a fatal incident in the history of it's lifespan.
