April 27, 2005
Remember when I said that Airbus had lots of "surprises waiting to come out?" Well one of them did! On this day (April 27, 2005) Airbus created and launched the A380 which is currently the biggest passenger jet in the world. This was the aircraft created by Airbus that was beaten by the 747-8 in length by just 3 meters! The speed of the A380 is Mach 0.83 (or 1020 km/h) which is really fast but not as fast as the Concorde. The A380 is a three class configuration (obviously) and can accommodate up to 868 passengers! In 2007 the lucky airline to receive the A380 first was Singapore Airlines.
The Primary users of this aircraft are Emirates, Singapore Airlines, and Lufthansa.
