Your P.O.V

When I woke up, the fire was nothing more than embers, and Zane was gone. Why, I didn't know, but I felt my only obligation was to hold down the fort.

Emmalyn hadn't awoken yet, which was pretty shocking to me considering how uncomfortable the floor was. All throughout the night, I was tossing and turning just trying to get comfortable.

Now that I thought about it, everything sucked at this point.

I was with some psycho, emo rogue shadow knight and a nerdy, really obsessive librarian. That wasn't something I ever thought I'd say.

Then, Emmalyn began stirring, and I looked over at her. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at me before scrambling backwards.

"I-I..! Oh... it's just you." She jumbled and I shrugged.

"Just little ol' me." I replied before looking out at the world beyond the mouth of the cave.

I heard three small pops that resembled that of cracking your knuckles, and turned around to find Emmalyn standing and looking rather resentful of consciousness.

"So what now?" I asked her, and she sighed before readjusting her glasses.

"Now I read and find information until he comes back. Unfortunately, that's all I do. All day." She replied before 'hmph'ing and flipping open a book.

I nodded and looked back out into the woods.

I assumed it was my personal job to guard the place, but I couldn't help but look back at Emmalyn.

Poor thing...

I bit my lip and watched as she sighed and flipped through another page.

Maybe I could-

"I'm back." A gruff voice said from behind me.

I nonchalantly turned around even though he scared the daylights out of me and looked him up and down.

"I smell blood." I commented, and he shook the comment off.

"That's none of your concern. What have you got Emmalyn?" He asked, wanting something good.

Emmalyn groaned. "Nothing new. Apparently 'glowing ball' is a dead end." She said, not even looking at him.

He looked back at me, seemingly in disbelief that she would talk to him like that. I merely shrugged in response.

"She's your prisoner." I replied, and he growled. "At least try and help me." He said before walking to the fire.

"Hey, I'm just here to kick ass if need be. Not to babysit." But I can't seem to decipher the baby here.

"Whatever." He grumbled, poking at the flames with a stick he had found.

"Well, as fun and interesting this has been, I'm leaving for the day." I said and grabbed my bag of arrows.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked, clearly annoyed with me.

"Out. You're boring, she's a nerd, and I need sunlight. I'm not a vampire too." I replied before walking away.

"Watch it hag!" He yelled back and I mouthed his words in annoyance.

After making my way back to Phoenix Drop, I put on a more settling appearance by snapping my fingers.

My clothing rippled before morphing into something more subtle.
