"You know I have seen you make mistakes. But I never took you for a slut."

-----------------

The words sting.

A slut.

My own brother called me a slut.

Watching him, my vision blurs as the tears fall down my face. Pools begin to form at the bottom of my eyelids. Suddenly my calm exterior turns to something more fitted for my "situation." He looks at me dumbstruck, as if he did not mean what he said. As if it just "came out."

"K-Kenya, wait I-"

And by that moment I was out the door.

--

I found myself at Travis' door, honestly the worst way to show my brother I have not done anything romantic with him. I am shivering, my clothes sticking to my skin after the rain started the minute I left the house with no car. A half an hour walk is not good in the freezing rain. Why does this happen in the middle of winter?

I am fucking freezing.

The door opens, a grim expression on his face, immediately shifts when he sees my state. My red, tear stricken face, my wet, tight clothes, my hair must be a mess and I am shivering up and down.

"What the fuck? What happened?" He looks at me wide eyed.

My sobs become even louder as he ushers me inside. He pulls a blanket out of the closet and covers me, as I am shaking to much to even speak correctly.

"What happened?" He says slower. Calmer, trying to make me feel comfortable. My sobs fill the room as I recall what happened, the fight with my brother, when he called me a slut. The wounds are still raw.

His face boils with anger, but when he notices me crying harder he pushes it away to put a comforting hand on my shoulder. His hands comb through my hair and my sobs quiet a bit.

"I am so sorry." He mumbles. Barely a whisper I can hear. I am still shivering and he obviously notices, asking me "How long were you out there?" I answer him, telling him the 30 minutes I was in the freezing rain. He pulls me in for a hug, and surprising him and myself I sink into it. "He should have never said that." He whispers his hot breath near my ear.

"I don't know why he would." I speak up. My voice cracks from the dryness of my throat, probably from the crying.

He puts his hand on my head and immediately retracts it. "Oh god." He exclaims. "Your burning up!" Probably from the rain and being out there for so long.

My eyelids grow heavy, my head pounding, as darkness threatens to consume. The cold covers me, suffocating me inside. I try to speak yet nothing comes out. He notices, his eyes wide, trying to shake me awake. Noticing its not helping he tries to sit me up his arms still around me.

"Shit. Kenya!" I droop in his arms.

That is the last thing I hear before I slip into darkness.
