THE RICH GUY

We haven't heard from Bas since yesterday, and I am only getting more and more anxious whether this plan is going to work or we should start looking for a place to hide out if we fail. I have a feeling Bas is having a hard time convincing his best friend.

If I were him, I wouldn't agree. Kim and I are kind of infamous at school for the things our names have been associated with although never proven. We carry the bragging rights of course. Not admitting the little things we did makes us more credible. We just let the rumors do the job for us.

I am in my bedroom killing time while waiting for any phone call from anyone which reminds me, I haven't talked with her for a few days now. She hasn't called or returned my messages yet. Why don't I try now?

I dialed her number and was very nervous and excited to hear her voice when somebody picked up.

"Tammy's phone, hello!"

I froze. That is a guy's voice answering my call. I hung up quickly. I got so confused I didn't realize my phone was ringing, so I just pressed the green button.

"Tammy?" I uttered.

"Man, you must be dreaming."

Fuck! That is Kim's voice. I looked at the phone screen then I realized I am now talking with my buddy. This must be an update, so I'll set aside that thing for later. At the moment, Kim's call is more important.

"Never mind. Anything?"

"Bas and his friend agreed to a meet-up."

"Great. When?" I asked.

"Now. I'll pick you up in five."

I got up and grabbed my light jacket which I threw at the foot of the bed earlier. I hope this meet-up brings good news. I hurried downstairs to look for Ma and tell her I'll eat dinner later.

I waited for Kim at the porch while getting my shoelaces done. I usually go out wearing just my favorite pair of slip-ons, but tonight I'll be meeting this rich guy, so I thought first impressions.

Using his signature honk to let me know he's arriving, I stood and headed to the front yard. I got in and asked him right away,

"Has he agreed yet?"

"Don't know. We'll find out later. We need to tell Bas to convince him."

"Our hopes depend on Bas, I guess." I whispered to myself while fastening the seatbelt.

It'll take about ten minutes to get to our meeting place, so I turned on the car stereo and sang along with whatever's playing. I guess I am a little nervous.

We arrived at a coffee shop three blocks away from the school. It's a good choice for a meeting since there's not a lot of people here. We headed to the corner table where Bas said they are, and found them.

This is the first time I'll be meeting this rich and famous kid face to face though I see him at school, and I am aware how popular he is. He was the Campus Moon.

We took the seat across from them after ordering drinks for ourselves at the counter. Bas was startled when I looked at him. I saw him elbowing his friend when he saw us.

I wonder how Kim is going to play this.

"Gi, this is Kimmon and Tee. Guys, this is Copter."

The guy Bas called Gi didn't say anything but just looked at us intently with a smirk on his face.

"Let's get down to business." Kimmon blurted.
