Welcome to St. Gabriel Catholic School for Boys' Annual Sports Fest!
Yay!
The only reason I am happy is because classes are irregular, and students who aren't directly involved in any activity can watch or just relax as long as we remain within the school grounds.
This is good for my Sick And Twisted gang as we can use our free time discussing and perfecting our every step for the heist.
It's been three weeks since we got hold of the blueprint from Copter. Kim has spent nights in his lair listing down strategies and options for every step each member will take while I share with him my thoughts whether I think they will work or not. Instead of really studying for the SAT, we just spend our time criticizing our plan.
We have different schedules for today. And since it's the Sports Fest, you can expect that none of us are actually involved in the activities except for Copter who was asked to participate in the opening ceremony. Something that has to do with him being the previous Mister Campus.
Oh and Bas who, as the class salutatorian, was asked to give the opening remarks for the program. That's it. We're all available now.
I don't know where the others are, but I have been waiting for all of them here at our spot in the library. I'm pretty sure nobody will visit the library today. I haven't had anything to eat for lunch, and I am really starving. I might drop by some of the booths selling snacks along the covered pathway later.
I can see Bas walking towards me carrying his backpack, and for the first time, he's without his eye glasses. After laying his backpack on the table, he took the seat next to me, so we're both facing the entrance. Then, he buried his face on his bag looking so exhausted.
"You alright, nerdy boy?"
"Will you please stop calling me that?" his voice frustrated.
Hmmm. Something has just ruined the kid's mood. Bully mode OFF.
"Sorry. You okay?" I asked again.
"You won't understand."
"Well... try me." I said.
He sat up, put his left arm on the table and rested his chin on his palm before saying,
"My parents..."
Oh... Two words. I think I already know.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." I told him.
"It's alright. If I tell you something personal, you will start trusting me, right?"
Bas' voice tone was a little sarcastic. I wasn't expecting that.
"Why do you think I don't trust you?" I asked back.
"You guys don't give me anything to do. Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in this group. Maybe you're all thinking that I'll rat you out." he explained.
"Will you?"
"I told you. I need this plan to work as much as you do."
"...." I remain silent giving him the freedom to rant as much as he wants. I will just listen. I can do that.
"My parents expect too much from me. If I don't get into Mahidol University, it's as good as going to a community college or getting a job at the minimart down the block."
