"What is happiness?" The younger version of me asked. "Happiness," My kindergarten teacher said, "is a burst of energy that makes you glow. Why? Do you feel happiness?" The younger version of me stared at the classroom mat. "I don't know what I feel." The younger version of me said. She looked up and smiled at the teacher, then walked away and played alone in the corner of the room.
That was when I didn't understand the pain I felt.
