The question pulled me off track a little, causing me to really think about my answer.
“I don’t know you.” I whisper, hoping I don’t say anything wrong. I wanted my replies to sound diplomatic. Giving something away, while keeping things hidden.
“Do you know Liam?” He asks, his facial expressions remain calm.
“We just met today.”
“Interesting. Well, I’ve known the boys for practically my whole life. And to get straight to the point. I have a warning.” He announces, a smirk growing on his face by the minute.
“You did all this for a warning.” I question incredulously.
Yes ma’am. And you would do well to tell your boys after I leave.”
“They’re not my boys.” I whisper quickly in response.
“Tell them anyways sweet cheeks.” He stands up from his chair, holding his hand out to me. I place my hand in his immediately, interested in what he has to say. He leads me away from the tables, walking at a slow pace to the front doors.
“I think they are your boys.” He tells me, and then lets out a loud, shrill whistle, signaling to his men to leave the building. I looked over my shoulder, catching Liam’s eye. He mouthed the words “Come here” silently, but I only shook my head in response.
“Sweet heart.” Brandon called out to me. I place my hand in his immediately, interested in what he has to say. He leads me away from the tables, walking at a slow pace to the front doors.

“Sweet heart.” Brandon called, pulling my attention back to him.
“Tell your boys exactly what I tell you. Alright?” He leads me to the entrance where I notice Max is kneeling, his arms above his shoulders, his knees on the ground. Suddenly I know what’s going to happen, the images flashing through my mind and causing me to shudder. All the men, besides two and Brandon, started to pack into the escalades.
“Brandon…” I say wearily, “You don’t have to do this.” I continue, trying to make my way closer to Max. Maybe I could stand in front of him. Simply cover him with me, certainly they won’t harm me. Max caught on to what I was doing because he winked at me, a smug grin slipping on to his handsome face.
“Yes. I do sweet heart.” Brandon replies, nodding at someone behind me. I feel hands slip onto my waist, puling me off my feet and into a chest. I began struggling immediately, fear filling my system. Brandon nods again and someone hands him a semi-automatic gun and he shimmied his fingers in my direction. The man holding me walked forward easily carrying my struggling body towards Brandon.
“If you struggle, I’ll make it more painful for him, love.” He announce, immediately causing me to stop moving.
“Good girl.” He praises, running his fingers along my hairline. His fingers flowed their invisible path down my jaw line and onto my waist, pulling me from the goon’s chest to his. My back against him, my eyes locking with Max’s bright blue eyes. I let out a strangled whimper when Brandon raised his gun, the barrel facing Max.
“Now’s a good time to hate me sweet heart.” Brandon whispered in my ear before pulling the trigger. Max lost eye contact with me when the bullet hit him and he fell back onto the pavement underneath him. A scream left my lips before I could stop it and Brandon whispered something into my ear again.
