Chapter 3: Presenting Emmalin Victoria Gilmore-huntzberger

Mom and dad squabbled on my last name for about thirty minutes before deciding that I would have both last names. The first time mom introduced me to everyone she said she knew they chose to do the right thing. Mom and dad sat down with Uncle Colin about a week after I was born and worked out a set schedule of who would have me and when. They both thought it best for mom to have primary custody and dad to have secondary. So that's how it became I spend from the 20th of August until the 31st of May with mom. I head to London on the first of every June and head home on the 21st of every August with very few exceptions. I spend every other Christmas with dad and sometimes spring break. For Thanksgiving dad always comes to Hartford so I get time with both. It's actually not so bad having parents that aren't together, but maybe that's just cause I don't know what they were like together. Uncle Finn says you could see and feel the fireworks just being around them. Uncle Colin says he had never seen a love that deep before. Aunt Steph feels mom deserves someone with eyes only for her. When I was four I got really sick with an upper respiratory infection and was in bed for two weeks dad came and stayed with me and mom for that two weeks so that mom could keep working, since dad can afford the time off more than mom can. Mom's a teacher at Chilton which is the high school mom went to and now I go to. Headmaster Charleston retired last year but he's the reason mom decided to teach. Growing up I always wondered how it would be for mom and dad to be together but I just can't seem to picture it. Honestly I would just like to see mom happy I wish she knew that and didn't try to shelter me from her dating. Odette and me get along well enough but I've always felt she resented me because she was supposed to give my dad his first heir, so in turn we fight a lot when dads not around. Me and mom live in a 3 bedroom house two blocks from nana, mom turned the third bedroom into her office. Dads house is a mansion in London with too many bedrooms and bathrooms to count. I enjoy spending time at both houses. When I turned 12 I got to start flying back and forth by myself instead of being accompanied by one of my parents. I've already had some awesome adventures even though I'm only 15, I've been to Paris a few times, Nantucket, Martha's vineyard, Chicago, new York and California. I go on road trips with Nana and Papa and vacation trips with Grandma and Grandpa Huntzberger. I'm actually living a blessed life even though my parents aren't together I just feel like sometimes something is missing.
