Chapter 9: New Beginnings

Emmalin's pov

Finally back at mom's and everything as different as it might be is getting back to normal. Mom and dad worked out a new visitation schedule and I'll be spending every other weekend with dad and my siblings. Dad hired a full time nanny to help out with the kids this single parent thing is new to him. Mom said I'm more than welcome to have my sister or brothers over anytime I want though, nana said it was because she wants to see dad. School starts tomorrow, and I'm actually really excited for this school year. Mom agreed for us to pick up James on our way in the morning to help dad out a bit it's funny how well mom and dad are getting along.

The next morning.

We pull up to dads house and I jump out of the car to go get James. "Good morning daddy is James ready?" I ask as dad answers the door. "James, your sister is here to get you. We need to go car shopping this year." Dad laughed. "Daddy I can't drive on my own for another 9 months." I laughed back. He waves at mom and mom waves back, James comes out and we head to the car after I hug daddy. "Good morning James." Mom says as we get into the car. "Good morning Miss Gilmore." James answers. "It's Rory." She corrects him and he nods. The day goes by pretty quickly and at the end me and James walk home to dads house mom is gonna pick me up when she's done with her day. Mom gets there about 5:30 I'm finishing up my homework at the dining room table and the maid let's her in. "Hey kid you ready to go home?" She asks yeah just let me finish this last paragraph real quick." I answer as I'm finishing that dad walks in. "Hey Ace, thanks again for taking James to school this morning." He says as he kisses mom on the cheek. "Yeah no problem in fact we can just make it normal routine, I'll pick him up of a morning and Em can walk here in the afternoons." Mom smiled. "Sounds great." Dad replied. And I'm sitting here thinking how natural all of what they're saying sounds. It's never been this normal before and it feels nice. We head out after that and when we get to Stars Hollow we stop at Luke's for dinner and then head home.
The next couple weeks flew by pretty fast. About a month after school started I'm in second period when a boy walks in and distracts the whole class. "Can I help you?" Mrs. Conley asks. "Yeah, I'm new." The boy answers. "Of course Mr. Dugray, go ahead and introduce yourself and find a seat." She tells him. "I'm Jamie Dugray, me and my dad just moved to Hartford from New York." After he did that he sat down next to me. "Hi I'm Emmalin." I say and smile. "Heellllooo Emmalin." he says smiling and biting his bottom lip, oh my god he's gorgeous. I smile back at him and continue doing my work. "Hey Emma?" He asked after class, apparently making his own nickname for me. "Yeah?" I ask, "Do you know where Miss Gilmore's English class is? I don't want to be late to another class today." He laughed, oh my god I think I'm gonna melt he's perfect. "Yeah, I think I might be able to help you with that I have a class next door to hers." I laughed and walked with him to our next classes. "This is it, I've gotta get to class I'll see you later." I said casually. "I hope so." He said and I almost died. That night mom and I ordered in chinese and were sitting at the table eating. "So did I see you showing Jamie Dugray to my class this morning?" She asked smiling. "Umm yeah you did he's in my second period and is new so needed help." I answered honestly. "Oh I see that was nice of you" she almost laughed. "What's so funny mom?" I ask irritated. "You were looking at him like he was a piece of meat hun." She said. "Oh my God no I wasn't." I gasped. "Well don't worry good genes just seem to run in that family." Mom laughed. "What are you talking about?" I asked looking at her confused. "Oh I went to school with his father, and I kissed him and cried." She laughed. "Oh my God he's that guy Tristan's son?" I asked and she just shook her head yes.
