"-and then I sent in the share drafts into the database but it said that they were inoperative. Let me tell you, I was this close to just overriding the systems and just writing them out myself." The middle-aged woman droned on.

"Uh huh." Ally responded uninterestedly.

It was finally Christmas Eve and the Hamilton's relatives had finally arrived for the Holiday. As tradition, a small get together was arranged so the family could celebrate by talking, laughing, and of course, getting wasted on fancy white wine. They had all heard of the little addition that would be joining them and were all eager to meet the girl.

Ally, on the other hand, was slightly overwhelmed, and, honestly, a little miserable.

She had truly wanted to be polite, this was her girlfriend's family. Someday they could be her family if her and Normani were to get married, which she of course hoped for. But they were all so gosh darn boring. She had talked to two of the girl's uncles and now her great aunt, and although they seemed kind of drunk, or at least tipsy, most were still as lively as a dead plant. She had to force her eyes not to gloss over or her eyelids to not droop as they spoke.

"And this one other day I-"

"Hi!" an angel answered the blonde's prayers and interrupted the older woman from going on about another one of her work stories. "Sorry auntie Miri, but I need to steal Ally away for a second."

"Of course sweetie," The woman smiled before turning back to the smaller girl, "I'll just have to find you later then, because I have the most craziest story about my tax refunds."

Ally just nodded, secretly dreading hearing that story, before allowing herself to be whisked away by her savior.

"What's up?" She questioned as she was led to the kitchen.

"Nothing, I just thought you needed to get away. I know how Aunt Miri can be with her boring stories." Normani stopped walking but still held onto Ally's hand.

"Awww, you're so considerate baby." Ally cooed, bringing them into a hug, her arms winding around the cheerleader's waist.

The pair stayed wrapped around each other, neither having any plans of moving. Every now and then they would sway slightly side to side, but other than that they just stayed still enjoying the feel of each other.

3 peaceful minutes went by before a pair of heel-clad feet sounded as someone entered the kitchen.

"Oh," It had a tone of disgust to it, making the two teens separate quickly. They turned to the door to see a middle aged woman standing there, face twisted in distaste. "I didn't realize- well hello dear. I'm Normani's aunt Liza." She held her hand out to the unfamiliar girl.

"I'm Allyson.."

Ally shook her hand, noting that the woman had the 'dead fish' handshake. She retracted her hand and moved back against Normani, clearly uncomfortable. The taller girl just rubbed the small of her back to try and ease her nerves.

"I heard about you." Liza put on about the most fake smile ever. "I actually would love to have a chat with you. Normani?"

"Oh, Uh," Normani looked from her girl to her aunt, looking worried. "Ok, I'll just be... Around."

Seeing Normani worried just made Ally worried, the tension in the room getter thicker with each passing second.

The cheerleader leaned in for a quick parting kiss before being stopped by a hand on her shoulder.

"There's no need for that, you'll see each other later! Go on now." Her aunt urged.

Without another word, she allowed herself to be kicked out of her own kitchen.
