Chapter seven

My body is slowly waking up, but I still feel drained, and a little hungover. I cuddle closer to my soft plush pillow, hmm I don't remember my bed ever feeling this comfortable, must be the alcohol from the night before. I roll on my back relishing in the comfort of my duvet comforter, wait I don't have a duvet. I open my eyes and quickly sit up, realization hitting full force from all the events that took place last night. Or tonight... I peer out the window and see that the moon is high up in the sky, i look around the spacious room a pretty good size I think, it's definitely an old house. The windows are an old English style with dark wood moulding and beautiful designs, the furniture with in the room matching the decor easily. There's a soft knock at the door and realized I'm not alone, I pull the covers tighter against me and start to panic a little. The door slowly swings open, and the man who saved me steps in. He scans my face as if to see if I'm really here, I sit there awkwardly not knowing what to do or say. He points to a chair in the corner nearest to my side. "May I?" He asks. I just shake my head yes, still in shock. He pulls the chair closer towards the bed and sits.

"I heard you moving around in here so I figured you were awake. How are you feeling?" I don't know why but his deep voice feels almost soothing to my already racked up nerves. I play with the seam of the blanket before glancing up at him once again. "I feel fine I guess, considering what happened tonight." He gives me a strange look, "you mean yesterday night." He says. My eyes widen slightly. "Iv been out for a entire day and night?" He nods in confirmations. "From the couple blows to the face that man gave you, and you hitting your head, I would say you got a minor concussion." His voice sounded tense and his jaw flinched. I just stare at him, is he pissed off? If so why. We've never met until the other night. Something is off, it all doesn't make any sense.

I'm come to the conclusion that I don't know where I am, and my friend Mac must be worried sick about me. "Where am I, and what am I doing here." I start to get out of the bed and realize I'm no longer in my clothes but a fitted cotton nighty. "Listen I appreciate you saving my life the other night and keeping me safe and all, but I really better get back home to my friend, she's probably worried sick and has already got the cops looking for me." I say all this while moving about the room not sure exactly what I'm trying to do. He stand up from the chair and slowly makes his way over to me but far enough I don't feel blocked in. "I understand you are confused, as to what's going on and why I didn't bring you to the cops, and brought you here instead." I wrap my arms around myself like a blanket as my body racks with shivers once again. "And where is here exactly?" He runs a hand through his black unkept hair giving it the bed head look before answering. "My home."

"But please, before you start panicking again and thinking about running back home, please let me explain everything, including myself as to why you are here in the first place and how you got caught up in an almost abduction. I assure you it's no coincidence, and more so a messed up life you were destine to be apart, without even knowing it." He walks towards the door of the room, "before I leave you with that thought, I'll be in my living room, it's not hard to find considering his place isn't that big. I'll wait for you and you can ask me as many questions you want and I will answer truthfully, take your time." He then turns around and disappears through the door closing it behind him, and leaving me to my thoughts. Not a coincidence? It was destined? What the hell kind of thing did I get myself into. I look around the room for my purse and jacket but could only find my purse. It had all my stuff placed back in it, but my cell phone wasn't there, then I remember the stranger took it and had put it in his back pocket. I wonder what happened to him. I stand there a little longer pondering on what I should do. It doesn't take me long to see that I at least should get answers, before I leave and figure away to tell Mac that I am ok.

I open the door and step out into a dark narrow hallway. To my right the hallway goes further to what looks like another bedroom, and bathroom. And to my left the hallways continues on and light is emitting from around the corner, and I hear what sounds to be fire crackling, the smell is kind of comforting and warm. I continue down the way towards the light and take another left and walk into a big open spacious living room with high ceilings, and big bae windows and a fireplace set in the centre of it all. A couple pieces of furniture surrounding it with a black area rug. I walk a little closer and see that the man Darek is sitting off to the side in one of the lazy boy chairs. He looks up the moment I step into the light coming from the fire, and we lock eyes for a moment, and a strange tingling pull feeling comes back again. His eyes get slightly darker and more intense. He breaks eye contact first but speaks. "You decided to come and talk more after all. I'm glad. Please take a seat and I can begin to answer any questions and concerns." My first thought begins with my friend Mackenzie. I sit down on the white plush couch and move my body so that I'm half facing him and the fireplace. "My friend, she would have called the cops or come to find me, is she okay?" He sits further back into his chair, "I assure you she is okay and in fact is at her boyfriends house as we speak, sleeping, but before you get mad, I sent her text saying that you are fine and home safely. Hence no cops involved." I raise my eye brows in questioning. "So you do have my phone, can I have it back?." He looks at me calm and collected. "No I don't have your phone, not anymore at least, after I sent your friend a text I smashed it so no one could trace it." I swallow and my mouth goes dry, I sit further back into the couch make space between us further. "I'm not going to kill you Emma" he says sternly. "Your here for me to protect you."
