Houston, TX"Did you print the ticket off for me?" I asked Britany as she came strolling in the kitchen along with the rest of us. She pulled the sheet of paper from behind her back and handed it to me, "Thank you." I said before folding it up and putting it inside of my back pocket.
"You really leaving this time?" My mom asked, taking the empty seat at the kitchen table next to me.
"Yes. Y'all seem to forget that I do have a life in D.C. with bills to pay, conferences to go to, and much more. I can't stay here the entire summer."
"So what are you going to do about Braxton?" Shad's baby mother asked. They were finally working things out and I'm glad because she was a beautiful person inside and out. I'm not sure what she saw in my ugly ass brother but whatever.
"What do you mean?" I asked before cutting into my pork chop and placing it in my mouth.
"How are you and Shawn going to coparent the correct way when y'all are hours away?"
I shrugged. I never really put much thought into it. I just know I couldn't stay in Houston forever, "We'll have to set something up. I'm not leaving my baby down here though. We'll just have to think about a schedule or something."
Everyone continued eating as my mind raced. I leave Saturday afternoon and I haven't told Jay anything. This was really a spur in the moment type of thing though. My dad volunteered to pay for plane tickets and I really didn't want to wait a week to go back to my home because I had a job to tend to, and no job equals no money.
After we were done eating, we were just sitting around talking until we heard loud ass yelling. We all looked at each other wondering the same thing.
"Is that Alexis?" Britany asked. I had completely forgot that bitch existed. Every time I came to my mother's house, she stayed in her room or left so I never knew if she was here or not.
"Sounds like it," My mom mumbled, "Go check on her somebody."
Everyone looked around and started laughing because no one wanted to check on her. I cleared my throat and finally stood up.
"Hell no. Sit your ass down." My mom said looking at me, making everyone laugh.
"You said to check on her."
"Not you."
I rolled my eyes and threw my plate in the trash, "Girl please. I'm just going to see what's wrong. She knows not to fuck with me anymore."
I walked up the stairs and could only hear Alexis' voice getting louder and louder as I got closer. I knocked on her door and jumped when she yelled.
"What!" She yelled at me through the door. I didn't say anything so she had no other choice but to open the door and let me in.
"What the hell you want?" She asked, finally opening the door and looking at me.
"I'm just checking on you. You're kinda loud."
She rolled her eyes, "Is this your business? I stay here. I can be as loud as I want."
"Well the woman that pays the bills here said shut the fuck up." I said looking back at her with the same facial expression.
She looked down at her phone and so did I. I couldn't tell who she was talking to because the number wasn't saved. "I'll call you back later." She said into the phone before hanging up.
"You're having boyfriend problems?" I questioned with a snicker.
"At least I have one," She shot back, "You can't seem to keep one of those."
