Family History; Velvet was an auction house find nine years ago when she was heavy in foal with Beorn. No one seemed to want the responsibility of a foal they knew nothing about, until Bailey begged her dad to buy the mare at the cheap price of $100. Not much is known of her past. She was said to have been a racehorse at one time before being retired to brood, and when her owners died, none of the family wanted her so she was shipped off to the auctions. Ramsey used her after Beorn was born to breed a few Appendix mixes for the ranch. She mainly lives the life of retirement, unless a trail ride permits her to be in use so one of the other horses can have a break.
Confirmation; She is one of the tallest horses on the ranch, save for the drafts, at 16.2 HH so she has long legs. Even for being a broodmare now for the past ten years, she keeps herself pretty active in the pasture. She loves foals, so she is always chasing and playing with them, which maintains her lean racing figure. High withers and her head is a little too masculine in characteristics to be too desireable.
